@Lisa so glad you didn't have to lose power and I hope you had a really lovely birthday. Australia's economy relies so heavily on coal and gas but the politicians are slowly cutting them down to the point where we now don't have enough gas and we will go broke without coal export $$. WInd and solar is fine but as you said unreliable. We have solar hot water but the three years of La Nina meant we had to get used to having next to no hot water most days.

Tomorrow it warms up, we are almost through it! Hope it warms up enough for my hot water lines to unthaw. I haven’t had hot water in my bathroom for three days, a slight inconvenience

When Joy and I tried to set off for our walk thismorning the gates were frozen shut!
I was just about to go and get some water to sort it out when our neighbour appeared brandishing a can of antifreeze.It's been an absolutely beautiful day, -3 when we set off, but clear blue skies and glorious sunshine and best of all.....the mud was all frozen!
. Another cold and sunny day forecast for tomorrow, then it's due to get warmer, wetter and very windy again. Temperatures are expected to go down to -8 tonight, but we are as cosy as anyone could wish to be by our Fireinametalbox.

It is !! -6 here this morning.
We have also had brilliant blue skies and not a breath of wind , such a joy to be able to walk on firm dry ground. Although, the fields are still quite waterlogged in places.

Who am I going to call at 6-6.30am if I fall? OH no use so I would we stuck with a neighbour. Awkward....
I did brave this morning a short walk down the pavement to the park. I was surprised the pavement was actually OK, but the frozen grass was really hard to walk on, could have done with my sturdy boots for my ankles.

So mum is in the UK at the moment and dad is still at home in Far North Queensland until next week.
But.... It now looks like another cyclone is on its way

The real positive thing about negative temperatures: frozen pooh! However I am not particularly happy when everything starts to thaw! It was about -4 degC here and a tiny dusting of snow. It is already warming up and soon it will be 10 degC and raining....

Yes! This is brilliant.
I have just booked a field so the dogs can have a proper run around his afternoon I feel awful that they haven't had proper exercise this week. Should be thawing soon. We have a storm coming tomorrow. Wet and windy, but at least no ice.
