What made you smile today?

And some people are using the excuse of a dog for getting out for long periods of time, going to new places etc because "I have to walk the dog". So bloody selfish! This lockdown is there for a reason - and that means staying home as much as possible. I adore walking my dogs into the mountains, away from civilisation, but the fact is, it's just not socially responsible to do this at the moment. Stay close to home, stay close to the infrastructure - and be aware that if you hurt yourself on any of these "extra" walks, not only are you being an unacceptable drain on an already overworked health system, you will in all likelihood be waiting a horrible amount of time for an ambulance, with that compound fracture of your leg. If there aren't enough ambulances to save the life of a young man who is having a cardiac arrest, there certainly won't be one for your broken bone.

We’ve even been keeping Stanley on the lead just in case he runs up to anyone. He hasn’t done that for a long time but I definitely don’t want him to now

I do love where I live! It's a street with two big blocks of council flats, lots of terraced houses and the occasional larger house. People are friendly and kind here. I have good neighbours. Tonight at 8pm Joy and I went out to applaud the NHS workers and I think pretty much everyone was out, at a safe distance, clapping, cheering, making some noise! People on their doorsteps or balconies in the flats, not for very long, but all the same a good feeling of community. My relatively new neighbours also commented that it's a good place to live. GGJ seemed to like it too, and did zoomies around the front yard/ off road parking space. OK so then she went into next door looking for food, but they said that was no problem. She just loves a party!:tail::clap:

I feel I also have to add that when I lost Trevor, people who I had never spoken to before apart from saying Hello were stopping me to ask how I was. I think this is a time when we're all likely to get more emotional about things than usual, but this really is a great little place to live in. I'm very lucky.

This did not make me smile but fits in with the above comments. Yesterday on my walk I heard a motorbike 🏍 very close. As I walked on, I saw it was a young idiot on a motorbike riding through one of the fields - literally through the crop!! He then roared across the footpath (where anyone could be walking) and rode on through another field towards the dyke. Then saw him riding along the bank. I was so angry 😀 . It also frightened me as lots more families are walking in the woods and fields currently. I will report if I see/hear him again

on this mornings walk, on the golf course, fred wanted to swim, so i threw him a dummy into the pond. he jumped into the water and a duck flew out of the reeds. annie went mad. she jumped into the pond after the duck but she couldn't understand where it had gone. it kept her busy looking for it while fred had a swim. the duck had long gone. both asleep now on the sofa.

sorry about the typing.

Opened the door to go for our walk this morning to find a cat had used the big plant pot with the holly tree in it as a litter tray again. Joy loves to snaffle this as a tasty snack so I whisked a poo bag out of my pocket, scooped it up and binned it before she saw it. Then on with the walk, a lovely day again, not many people around thankfully. I was having a bit of a moral dilemma. I have had no wine in all week, not a problem, but I do like a glass or so of something over the weekend. I had ordered a mixed case for delivery but had been informed that it may take a little longer to arrive than usual due to current circumstances. I didn't need to go shopping for anything else. So does wine on a Friday count as an essential item? Could I justify a trip to the shop just for some wine? I pondered as I walked and couldn't come to a conclusion that I was happy with (i.e.Yes!)
Anyway, approaching home again I reached for my keys only to find they weren't there! Searched all my other pockets. No keys! OK, don't panic, I have left spare keys with a couple of people who are WFH at present, so I won't be locked out, but what have I done with them? I mentally retraced my steps on leaving the house, remembered the cat poo swoop and came to the worrying conclusion that I may well have left them in the outside of the door. Aaagh! Covered the last few yards at a brisk trot, there was the house.....there was the door....there were my keys still in the outside of the door....and there on the doorstep was a beautiful case of wine! All my problems solved in one go! BIG smile!πŸ˜€πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‰

Social distancing.

The fields( public footpath) is a secret that I like to keep. All these dogs I've never seen before have appeared.

This morning on way back a new walker appeared on a very narrow part of the path. She immediately turned around and went back the way she came, all to avoid being close to me. Normally I'm the one going back and asking them to put their dog on lead. Not now, I'm the piranha and I'm loving it. My boy gets space from other dogs for the first time ever.
