What made you smile today?

I don't want to get all feminist about this, and I do recognise women have been driving cars for as long as men have, but I think they give women so much freedom and relative safety. I have always owned my own car since I passed my test at 17, I love the fact that I could go out at any time of the day or night and then get myself home safely on my own terms, without relying on other people and public transport. And I value it just as much now I'm older as much as when I was young and often out much later at night and frequenting dodgy venues.

This probably all sounds a bit old fashioned today but I stand by it.

OH agreeing for me to get my own car!

We share a car and he has his motorbike.

But I’ve been saying I want a new car for the baby so I don’t have to rely on other people etc.

He’s finally agreed so tomorrow we go car shopping! 🤗🤗🤗
This is a bit exciting! What type of car are you thinking of?

Btw - where does Stanley sit in the car? Part of the reason Ella sits on the back seat is because we needed space in the boot for the pram...

I’m thinking a Seat Ibiza.

We have an Audi A3 now and I find it a bit big sometimes so I’d like something smaller and more girly. (This was after OH telling me not to be so ridiculous when I asked for a Range Rover 😏).

Stanley sits on the backseat. We discussed maybe moving him to the boot but we agreed we couldn’t do it because he’s a family member so he’ll be staying in the back for now. I might move him up to shotgun for a little while until he’s more used to the baby 😬

Monty has both the boot and back seat. My mum made a huge cushion/bed filled with old duvets and pillows which fits perfectly in the boot. Then I flip forward the back seats which now sit on the same level as the bed, and he's clipped in via back fastening harness to the D rings in the boot. He couldn't have it ant better, loads of room, comfy, and gets to see us in the front.

My friend had a Seat Ibiza and loved it - they’re fast! You can do an honorable doughnut or two down on the seafront and fit in the nursery run. Do you have any colours in mind/ruled out?

The ones I’m looking at won’t be particularly fast unfortunately 😭 my last car that was all mine before we got the joint one was a Honda Civic type R. I loved that car so much - it was so fast and just so cool!

I think it’s a choice between these 2:

I like the red and OH likes the white. So we’ll compromise and get the red I’m sure 😏

Exciting news Jen! I got my own car for the first time about a year ago and now I don't know what I did without it. It is also the 'dog car' so it is a mess but I still love it. Who needs a hair-free car anyway?

What made me smile today is coming home to find my little family are back from their holiday and Maxx was so happy to see his Mum

Great!

We went to two cars when Boogielet 1 was born. We then had two for 30 years, now we are back to one. I don’t mind sharing and it makes financial sense - but I do miss my little car.

I smiled today at a FB memory. We went to see Mollie for the last time exactly a year ago today.

:inlove:

I smiled , big smile this morning when Reubs seemed very happy to be around people at the woods . Yesterday a vile man kneed him in the chest and threatened him with his walking stick , just for doing a half dancie type greeting , not even a full jump up. Poor lamb was so upset and all I could do was burst into tears . I was so pleased that my pupster didn't seem to have had any lasting effects, his usual happy go lucky self thank goodness x
