Reuben, on our short walk just now . Behind us came a lovely couple with a three years old black Lab , ironically called Reuben

My Reuben was carrying his beloved ball , as was the other Reuben , I chattered for a few minutes then they walked on ahead and we got to the river where I did my usual chucking the ball up and down the bank . Eventually , leg pain got the better so I called him up and began to walk back whereupon he decided that Reuben 2 was a much better prospect and began to leg it in the opposite direction towards his new friend who was by now well out of sight . I called , I whistled and called again , and guess what ? Two Reubens appeared round the corner

I could hear the couple calling their dog so they both ran back

I thought to myself that this could go on for hours if I wasnt careful but had left my shoulder bag with dog whistle in the car by mistake . I had no strength in my leg to go and fetch my boy so began to slowly walk back to the car with Nelly when out of the corner of my eye, I spotted him about 50 yards behind me , plodding along towards me and thankfully on his own this time . No harsh words were spoken , after all he was only responding to his name
