What made you smile today?

I knew I had a baby for a reason..

Not being at work when the weather is this beautiful πŸ™ŒπŸ»
Yep, I work 4 days per week and yesterday was my day off (I ended up going into the office between 5.30am and 10am) but it was a lovely sunny, 19 degree day. OH, Nathan and I went to one of the zoos before taking Ella for a lovely arvo walk. I LOVE my Wednesdays off :inlove:

OH and I have also organised to have Wednesdays off together, even pre baby. It is really nice to be out and about during the week, although this Wednesday was dreary and pretty horrible. Glad to see some sunshine today, finally!

I'm smiling happily today, my son has just texted to say he's got a 2.1 degree (in Agriculture ) and with a 1st in his dissertation:clap::star:.

I'm pleased because like many boys he didn't really like school and never really gave it his best shot, and watching him go out to 6th form doing A levels was one of the most painful things to witness, pulling teeth would hardly cover it! But do them he did, admittedly only 2 . He couldn't wait to get on a plane and go to America aged 19, then spent 4 yrs globe trotting interspersed with spells working at home.
It was his decision therefore to go as a "mature" student aged 23 , influenced somewhat by his first serious girl friend. He's been happy at Aber, and it's been good to see. Not only is he quite a bright lad, and good looking, but on top of that he's kind, thoughtful, generous and hard working.
As his mother of course I am not biased, not at all.:giggl:. It's just that, well, the sun does shine from him :sun:

Ooh fantastic news re your son @Selina27 - a very proud mum moment for you. Well done him. I think having kind, thoughtful, generous and hard working children the most rewarding thing ever as a parent - a job well done πŸ‘πŸΌ. Enjoy this special time

I admired a beautiful necklace on Facebook, made my a local lady. OH has only gone and noticed my comment & surprised me with it. I was overwhelmed. It looks like the sea. It hangs on a long silver chain, and looks wow! against a black top. She casts the shells from real ones found on our beached & the enamelled droplet is mad by dropping molten silver into river or, in this case, sea water.

@Selina27 thats such good news on your son, you have every right to be proud! 2:1 is great - it gets you anywhere and means you had a bit of a life at uni too :) my husband works in agricultural research, Aber is really well thought of. And I love that you recognise what a rounded boy he is. Brava to you

Is that what my Lilac Squirrel is? A Sanguisorba? I'm not good at remembering plant names, so when I saw a label saying Lilac Squirrel I thought that would be easy to remember. I hadn't realized it was a grass either! Although come to think it, the lovely nursery where I bought it does specialize in grasses.
