What made you smile today?

Many congratulations @MrChew and welcome baby Rowan :celebrate:.

Oh do tell us !!
Thanks for the congratulations everybody. Well... I went into spontaneous labour on the day I was due to go in for induction. But things progressed super slowly and painfully, because he was occiput posterior as it turns out. Then he wouldn't descend. Required epidural, augmentation, being manually rotated by the obstetrician, episiotomy and forceps for foetal distress.

Quite the saga. Lucky he is cute.

Oh and now breastfeeding is being a nightmare. Hooray?

On the bright side Chewie was great when we came home today. Gentle and interested. He is now napping on the floor ignoring the baby. He is a dear.

Good boy, Chewie!! :celebrate::poolparty:

but as my Granny used to say , worst pain soonest forgotten
Well that’s a lie 😂 I’m still traumatised by contractions. Worst.pain.ever!

Glad you’re all ok and Chewie is being a good boy ❤ Breastfeeding is really tough, I hope it gets easier for you. Do you have one of the pillows? I found that helped a lot with getting us both comfortable. But Rory went for 10 hours one night with a few breaks here and there. I was demented by 4am when he finally went to sleep x

It might be worth getting a pillow. Rowan is struggling to latch- either showing no interest or going nuts and shredding me...

And my supply is coming in so slowly as a result.

10hrs is brutal. I was in tears after 5 last night. I'm finding the emotional struggle with feeding worse than the recovery from the delivery.

I really did find the pillow helpful. I still use it now to sit Rory in it and stuff.

He’ll figure it out, I’m sure. They’re clever little things.

It is so so tough, at an already ridiculously emotional time. Sounds like you’re already smashing it though ☺

Sorry, Kate, but I'm with @Jen - your Granny was TOTALLY reaching with that old saying! :hmm:

My mother used to say that the joy of having a baby erased the memory of the pain, but I have a feeling she was fibbing as well. She was a 'glass half full' kinda gal. :p
I`m not agreeing with Granny , after all I have had three children and can remember laughing, in a manic sort of way when in labour with my third , and thinking she must have been very lucky indeed ! x

Go Chewie! Glad he’s being a good big brother already.

I’m disproportionately pleased as I’ve just got a text from OH, who had just taken Kipper out for his morning trot at his work. They met a French student who’s visiting - v nice woman, animal friendly - but Kipper didn’t want to say hello at all. Tail down, very much not keen. So OH just said ‘okay, that’s fine’ and walked on with Kipper bouncing back to usual form within seconds. I’m so pleased there was no pressure or ‘give him a treat’. V proud of OH.
