What made you smile today?

I really like screw top bottles for sheer ease of opening, but the corks do come in handy as my garden is nearly all patio, so lots of containers. I don't entirely choose my wine according to method of bottle stopping though!

We have two favourite purchases from Aldi, Shiraz and pinot grigio, which are consistently decent quality for us.
Though I do like the little frisson of buying something different and having to dig out the bottle opener.... Hoping the cork won't crumble and it will pop out in one go!

Cork is so much more environmentally friendly than screw tops. Such a shame we don't have so many now which is also threatening cork businesses. Yet another step backwards xx

I remember going to Osborne House on the Isle of Wight when I was ten and my parents pointing out a cork tree to me. I was amazed and fascinated. I was well aware of corks, of course (am my parents' daughter after all) but had no idea that they were made from tree bark.

He chose getting up in the morning and Rory slept through.

Busy but fun day
Nathan had soccer this morning, we went to see my parents (dad had his knee replaced last week so we wanted to see how he was recovering), family bike ride, walk by myself with Ella, cut the lawns and chat with our new neighbours while our kids made friends and played in driveway (they were cutting the grass on their empty block as the council fined them $500 for not doing it).
Now to finish my emails and invoicing before going to bed

Just hidden some pieces of kibble in the sitting room ,dogs shut out of course , guess who found the most , Nelly Reubens nose was in overdrive but she, being closest to the ground won the game x

In my day (violins playing sob story) we didn't have maternity pay and men had no paternity leave, we just had to get on with it. Though we did have a health visitor come every day for at least a week and show how to bath the baby and even bathed the baby

Still very wild and windy outside. Should really be off to bed and will be soon, but what a warm snuggly girl my GGJ is, and how she loves to kiss my face!

I bumped into one of the few people from my mother's group that I actually got on with. We had both been at the park with our babies, so we decided to have a coffee and it turns out we are doing the same mindfulness course. Hooray!

I have just taken one of the granddaughter’s home from school. My son was already home from work and my daughter was there as her daughter had spent the day with his children (not all had school today). I stayed for coffee and a chat. So lovely to see my son, my DIL and my daughter and 5 of the 6 grandchildren in one go
