My nephew, Sam took a while to learn 'Oops'. He used to say 'Oosp' instead, it was adorable, as is your Rory!As a mam of a child with a speech delay I’ll never be able to tell you how happy this makes me. Lots of small steps in the right direction..

That's a wonderful thing to happen on a grey Sunday! Or in fact any day, of courseJust the most wonderful thing happened to me thisafternoon. I was having a quick sit down and cup of tea when the telephone rang, the landline which is in its self a rare occurrence nowadays. When I answered a man's voice which sounded familiar but I couldn't place said somewhat hesitantly, 'That isn't by any chance Candy is it?' I replied 'Yes, it is. Who is this please?' and he just said 'Candy, it's Gilbert!' Well! I was quite beside myself with happiness! Gilbert and I met in London through mutual friends about 38 years ago. I was 25 and he was 19 and we became really firm friends. Nothing more than that (although really what can be more than that?) we just really enjoyed each other's company and shared a silly sense of humour. He lived in Gloucestershire and used to come up to London and sleep on the sofa and we had some brilliant times together. I think the last time we saw each other was probably 34 years ago but we kept writing to each other and made phone calls. We last spoke more than 20 years ago, not long after I moved into this house. By then he had married and his wife had just had their first son. Life moves on and gets busy, but every now and then I have wondered what Gilbert was up to.
Then this today out of the blue! He said that he and his wife are really bad at doing Christmas cards but decided that given all that has happened this year they should make an effort. He dug out old address books and there I was! It was SO good to talk to him and hear his voice! We were straight back to talking non stop at each other and finishing each other's sentences! I now have his address, we have swapped email addresses and promised that we will meet up when it's possible again. It was wonderful to hear from him and to find that we still have so much in common. An unexpected extraordinary event on a grey and gloomy day, an early Christmas present and something to really look forward to!
) He said 'Have you lit it yet?' I replied that it was just a bit early then we said in unison 'Probably give it another hour'. Uncanny and just how it always was! This gave me goosebumps. Yes, truly amazing for me too! I think it has made not just my day but the whole year! Can't wait to see him again and meet his wife. If he chose to live with her forever then she's bound to be absolutely lovely. Er... have had to stay up a leetle bit later and have a teensy teensy pre Christmas G&T just by way of celebration. After all it's not every day this sort of a thing happens!Oh @Candy that is amazing! Just about the best thing I have heard all month!
and my GGJ is so Veryvery happy by the Fireinametalbox that it would amount to an act of downright cruelty to ask her to move!
