I'm not sure Monty even believed his eyes. He did flush out a cat on the way there, they went nose to nose in a bush and I don't know who was most shocked.
It's interesting though, I would definitely say Cassie is a high prey drive dog, but she has almost zero interest in deer, one crossed our path yesterday very close and she just looked at it, and very rarely does she bother to chase a squirrel. Sometimes even rabbits -- she'd much rather look for them in the brambles.
Should a pheasant or a hare cross her path, or even be close by, then it's a very different story.
