What made you smile today?

Not today but actually Monday. We had a vet appointment for Finns yearly vaccination and check up. As our vet we had for over 30 years stopped the practice we had to look for a new one. So off we went. Finn was quite excited. We went into the practice and Finn behaved very well. Due to covid I was not allowed to go into the examination room with him, so she came to collect him. He went in with her with a look at me to say: ā€œdon’t worry mum, don’t wait for me, I’ll be getting lots of treats, so I think I’ll stay here for a little whileā€ā€¦..

I've just found a pair of earrings I thought I'd lost about 10 years ago. I was looking through my collection ( Think hoard) and there they were tucked inside the lid of my old silk jewelry box. I'm so happy I loved them I even tried to replace them but couldn't because they were a one off. I looked for them for ages. Just so happy to have found them in just such a strange place, all tucked away in a fold of silk.

:clap: Lovely for you!

I found one of Cassies leads that I thought I'd lost the other day. It had some how wormed its way into the lining of my winter dog walking coat though the hand warming pocket .... not quite the same though is it? No ...

Still, it's a very nice lead :giggl::giggl:

Successfully reverse parking OH's enormous, elderly station wagon first go on my way to the gym.

I had developed a driving avoidance after a minor accident (I haven't told many people this as it's so embarrassing) so it's good to be back doing it and gaining confidence. Small wins.

Paul has just gone to take Debbie to the Vets with one of her guinea pigs who has to have light GA to have burs removed from two back teeth . She had taken Ella yesterday , this morning being scheduled for the little op which they told her would cost 200 pounds :shock: Its a different Vet to ours , the price staggered me as we only paid this for Reubens castration and we could see that Debbie was very upset and worried about the cost . Last night , we sat talking and Paul echoed my thoughts when he said that we should help her out , I hadnt liked to bring it up myself as she is not his biological daughter ( but is her Dad ) and we have helped in the past . He has just gone , picked up his wallet and said ` You know the winter fuel allowance we get ? Well , I cant think of a better use for it , we will pay the bill ` . This made me smile , reminding me that whilst he can be the most frustrating/ daftest / infuriating man on earth , he is also kind, and thats what matters xxxx

I am super impressed, I cannot even reverse park my small Honda Jazz on my double car at least, sized drive!

@kateincornwall, vets' fees have suddenly gone up alarmingly and soon will be beyond most peoples' ability to pay and then what is going to happen to animal welfare. Farmer took his dog to vet, slight stomach problems, one antibiotic injection and one tube of 'something to settle the stomach' £86!!!!! I think many practices have been taken over by a company, certainly in my area, a very retrogressive step.

It hasn’t made me smile yet but it will…tonight we are going with the kids to see Canada’s men soccer team play a qualifying game against Costa Rica (for Olympics). The team features a young man from Edmonton who is lighting up the soccer world and it will be so fun. The stadium should be sold out even though it will be around -1 C or so by the time the game starts. I’ll take a pic later.

Angel monopolizing the "matts" today.

we started the first step of "go to place" in classes on Monday. That is to say she learned that sitting in a designated place means GOOD things.

So I put some folded blankets on the floor in preparation to teach Shamas...because I'm sure it will be part of his regime too. and Angel was on EVERY "matt" Every time lol. "I'm here! LOOK I SAT! I'm good right? Treat time? Imma GOOD GIRL!" Poor shamas will need to learn the trick before they can do it together lol. He looked a little overwhelmed with her enthusiasm. WE swapped instead to something more basic....sit, lay, and Leave it.

"focus" is a bit of an issue...he doesn't make eye contact. Ever. He'll look to the hand with the treat, at your shoulder, your chin, but NOT in your eyes.
