What made you smile today?

Oh, something else that made me smile today... R has been a bit of a handful lately. Lots of defiance and arguing. Normal toddler stuff, but more than usual for him. Anyway, I spoke to one of his teachers and she said that while he does have his difficult moments she also noticed that he helps the younger children with their day, things like helping them reach the soap in the bathroom, with no prompting at all. She says he just naturally wants to look after them. Made my morning to hear that.

My little grandson Rory is being a bit of a handful at home too, although not at nursery or pre-school. I thought he was growing out of the ā€˜terrible twos’ now that he’s three, but he’s convinced that he’s a ’big boy’ now, yet can’t cope when he’s tired (or thinks he’s right). He had a huge meltdown yesterday when he didn’t want to wear his cycle helmet. However, I asked him not to come upstairs when I was just popping up to get something a couple of days ago, but he followed saying, ā€œI’m just coming to look after you, Grandma!ā€ā€¦

Yes, they have huge feelings at this age and big ideas but aren't necessarily able to do the things they want. It must be frustrating!
