They have spent the last 4 or 5 weeks travelling up through S America, with the last week in a beautiful all inclusive golf resort in Cancun, so not such a long flight as from NZ.
How did they like NZ? I lived there, in windy Wellington, for 2 years (where I met Steve). Loved the people and culture but dear God the weather! Cold cold cold and wet and windy!

Seeing Steve well enough for our gorgeous weekend away at Rick Steins Bannister's in Mollymook on the NSW south coast. His birthday was yesterday so I took the day off and we drove down at lunch time. It's 3 hours south of Sydney so should be very cold; but we are blessed with an above average sunny temp of 23 degrees today. We even have a hot tub on our balcony

Awesome! We have a voucher for Bannister's but think it really needs to be two nights so are waiting for Rowan to be ready for a two night stay with grandparents. Or possibly for grandparents to be ready. Lol.

If you can, get a room with the spa bath on the balcony. You have to wear your cozzie as people can (and do) wander past but it's mostly quiet and private (ish) and it is so great to watch the sun set over the ocean with soap bubbles and champagne bubbles. We had room 16 which was at the far end (next to the day spa) and that was the most private

Bannisters restaurant was awesome. I don't eat seafood so I thought my chicken and mushroom option would be boring but it was beautiful. They didn't have any non-seafood entrees (didn't bother me - I needed room for dessert) so Steve had mine. He raved about the seafood. Our second dinner was at their other restaurant The Pavillion Rooftop which is a few minutes drive away (they have courtesy cars running back and forwards) which was nowhere near as good, a bit noisy but still nice.

People bagged them in Tripadvisor, especially the Breakfasts so they are either fussy or Bannisters have made an effort to improve. Brekkie was awesome too! Great coffee, you can order whatever and however much you like from the continental section and they bring it to you and then there are hot selections too. I hope you get to go soon
