When you talk about putting the age up, do you mean the age that you can access the pension from the government?

We have a couple of age restrictions too. One is the age pension (government), and the other is the age that you're allowed to access your superannuation.

Age pension age (to access government pension) is currently 67 and preservation age (to access your own super) is currently 60.
It’s interesting, I don’t think we have any nationally mandated restrictions on when you can access personal pensions. But our government (‘state’) pension age is due to increase from 66 to 67 by 2028 and to 68 by the 2040s, with a projected pension age of 70 by 2050. We have a rapidly aging population in the UK, and future state pension ages are often a soft target for governments looking to claw back a bit of money for other things (like the current government has done).

We have mandatory superannuation here and it just went up from 10% to 11%. This means your employer must put 11% of your salary into super and you can't touch it (nor any of your own contributions) until you are 60 and have left work

I can't claim to understand pensions and superannuation but for the NHS scheme, one of the best ones to be in, I think still, members contributions are tiered from about 5% for the lowest paid up to 12 or 14% roughly (it changed recently) for the very highest paid. Employers pay in just over 20% of the members pensionable earnings.
Lots of money floating around in the scheme, but a LOT of members.....
Hope it doesn't run out for when I need it 😉

That sounds more like our defined benefit schemes. Some government type jobs have this form of pension where you are basically paid a set amount per year in retirement, from a giant pool of funds.

Our other superannuation accounts are a separate member account per person and you have a lot more choice of how you access the money (when you're old enough or meet another condition of release) so could potentially withdraw the entire amount in one go if you chose to.

I loved it! Very silly, frothy and also a clear critique of patriarchal systems - really cleverly done. The sets and costumes were amazing, all done by hand (so no computer generated stuff) and I particularly enjoyed the dance/fight scenes, which made me think of West Side Story and Singing In The Rain.
My sister saw it in America and didn't think much of it. However, she probably missed the 'message' of the film!

London Zoo annual weigh-in today! Sorry for the non-UK gang (although you might find the link if you Google it?) - but this is brilliant viewing. Humboldt penguins and meerkats have ben covered, now onto squirrel monkeys. One of the best things is the commentary - there's a BBC journalist interviewing keepers who are giving interesting facts about the animals, but because it's raining in London today lots of the animals are quite reluctant to hop on the scales - so there's a lot of filling for the commentary, which makes for some random discussion!

It looks like they're using force free approaches so interesting to see the range of methods they use. Pretty much all luring I'm guessing...
