So many blackberries this year!
Does anyone else's dog pick their own blackberries or other berries? Merlin is a great picker of fruit - he walks along snacking off all the low-hanging blackberries he can find. In season he also picks blueberries. But with there being so many blackberries at present his poo yesterday was a weird sort of purple colour, which of course made me think he had internal bleeding... No, just a surfeit of soft fruit! Luckily he can't reach the raspberries in my garden or I bet he'd have them too.

We also have SO many blackberries on all the bushes, I've never seen so many! Joy and I had a blackberry picking walk thismorning, she enjoyed picking some off the lower branches. Here is just one of the many bushes after I'd finished picking, also some of the remaining bushes. As you can see, there are literally hundreds left!

Phenomenal amount of blackberries this year, they are so incredibly sweet once the sun has been on them for a while.

Lottie too loves to pick blackberries. I like to watch her as she scans the patch for the biggest juiciest looking one then delicately picks it, avoiding any thorns. And yes, purple poo too.
They are so clever, aren't they? Someone walking yesterday saw Merlin picking, and asked whether it was safe or whether I worry that he might hurt himself. I said he seems to manage just fine...

Watching Cass assess fallen fruit for any danger from wasps is interesting!
She must over the years have been stung, unbeknown to me, and has it down to a fine art now! It involves watching and listening and evasive action!

Iām so jealous. We have loads of blackberries on the common but they are all quite small and lots are just shrivelled up before being ready to pick.

The bushes around here are covered but they are very small - tried to pick some today and gave up fairly quickly
