What made you smile today?

The biggest smile to myself today . I've set myself a challenge of teaching Cassie to play Pooh Sticks with tripe sticks :):)

It's the best fun! It's always tricky doing "find it" in mud and water, things either sink and/or she squashes them into the mud, or they float off too fast , but in any event she keeps looking.
So -- how to avoid setting her up to fail?
This morning I got her to wait a couple of feet downstream and cued her to "go ahead" just as it bobbed towards her and BINGO she got it :D:D. So we might get there by the end of 2019 !

Makes me feel about 12 again and I'm reliving my country childhood :)

Reading about dropping food @Granca , made me smile and brought back a memory . My sister, her family and loads of other relatives were at our elastic sided house for Christmas , when all the children were small . Chris and I were shattered after preparing lunch for 28 , and hit the gin a little too hard . We proceeded to cook said meal through an alcoholic haze and at one point , I dropped the turkey tin when attempting to baste , turkey slid out and whizzed across the kitchen floor whereupon the lovely springer spaniel I had , thought that all his Christmas`s had come at once ! Laughing hysterically , we rinsed the dog hair, drool and fluff off the turkey and chucked it back in the oven , happy days ! xxx

won't be as much fun when he is fully grown weighing a ton and wants to do it :ROFLMAO:
Oh, it totally is!

I have three cuddlers; Shadow loves having some part of him in contact with some part of one of us. He'll generally sit next to us on the sofa, squished up to us. Ginny will sit with us, too, and nudges our hands to stroke her. Squidge... yeah, she thinks she's a lapdog, all nearly-thirty kilos of her. In the mornings, she often jumps on the bed and sits on my head, or lays down across my neck or face. Or she will lay full-length on top of me. It's adorable and always makes me laugh. A great way to start the day, being suffocated by a chocolate hippo :)

This made me smile today when I was sat on the floor and Buddy came for a cuddle. He snuggled down for a nap on my knee, but not going to let this become a habit, won't be as much fun when he is fully grown weighing a ton and wants to do it :ROFLMAO:View attachment 3795
Stanley still climbs on top of me for a cuddle. The bigger they get the better cuddlers they become. And they’re super warm 🥰

I didn’t smile.... I laughed out loud....
Finn got something to chew on from the mantrailing company. I gave it to him half a hour before we would drive home from our house in the woods to our home address. There was such a small piece left when we wanted Finn to jump in the car. My experience is that the last piece is somewhat difficult for Finn to chew, perhaps he will even choke on it. So I wanted him to give it to me, he didn’t let go. Couldn’t get it out of his mouth. So he jumped in the car and held his chew in his mouth. When we came home after a 2 hours drive, he jumped out, ran to his place and chewed further....He has held it over 2 hours in his mouth to finish it in our own house.....

At the vet yesterday, walked out of the consulting room and straight into a lovely flatty, he and Shadow nose to nose. High-tension environment, small space, recipe for disaster with a reactive dog. Shadow looked at me and we retreated back into the room until they had passed. Nary a peep from him.

Squidge sat down, wriggling from nose to tail asking if she could meet him. Sadly not this time, little hippo.

Very proud of them, because it was hard for both of them, for different reasons.

I was in the kitchen , prepping for lunch tomorrow , and in they came, the gruesome twosome , to help ! Both just plonked themselves down to observe , and as I looked at Reuben, he wagged his tail like mad and I just thought I would burst with joy and love for him . I love Nelly, goes without saying , and thought I would never have another Labrador after losing my darling Sam , but what Reuben gives is priceless , he really has helped to heal . Maybe I wont be quite so soppy about him when he hits the teenage period but for now he is bringing smiles a plenty xxxxxx

Non dog related smile today :)

A few months ago the main hotel in our little, rather shabby fallen on hard times , local town had it's front "portico" demolished by the co-op delivery lorry which tried to squeeze up the narrow road just as a bus was coming the other way. This was not a good idea and resulted in significant damage to the front of the building.

It's been rebuilt and painted a wonderful fresh blue and it looks glorious in comparison to the surrounding buildings, just in time for Christmas and the boxing day meet. Definitely made me smile this morning!
