What made you smile today?

All these posts make me smile!!

I smiled this morning, watching a stoat hunting on the woodland floor, just before I released Cassie, we both watched it for a while. He was bright chestnut in the pale winter sunshine, just stunning. I haven't seen one for ages. Then he scampered off into the bushes.

Cassie had spent some time yesterday hunting there intensely, not one of her usual hotspots I could tell by her that it was something out of the norm for her. Now I know what!

I think now that you can go via Dubai the jet lag is not that bad. Arrive evening so can go to bed pretty much straight away. Used to be worse going via Sinpapore/Hong Kong, used to arrive morning and the having to stay awake all day. And yes it is a long way

Yep, I did a lot of business trips to Germany and I always came home in the early morning and then try to force myself to stay awake all day. One time I decided to clean the whole house thoroughly to keep busy and OH came home from work and found me sound asleep lying on the vacuum cleaner! It will be much better for you to get in tonight and go straight to sleep (after a play with Vanilla of course)

Catching up from a smile I had on Tuesday.
A while back David Blunket brought in his guide dog Barney for an assembly at our school. We sometimes, but not often see him in the park where the kids play. One of the little girls, LL (8) is his biggest fan, for no reason other than he came to our school and has a dog.

On Tuesday, last day of term, David had just got out of his car with Barney as we were walking back to school little LL spots him, and calls out “David!” As one would a greet an old friend. She was jumping with excitement! I took her over to say hello. “Oh, David! It’s so nice to see you and Barney!”, she gushes. She would have wrapped her arms around his legs if Barney had not been in way.

Well, we couldn’t not smile at the enthusiasm.

Carbon insisting on sitting on my lap when I am 'occupied' in the bathroom, if you know what I mean. He thinks it is the world's funniest dog joke, to smash his 30 kg wiggle body on my lap. Many times he gets part of his body balanced on my legs just as another bit is sliding off. And he's starting bringing his monkey along for the ride, which makes the whole exercise even more ludicrous.

I shouldn't let him, but it makes me laugh every time, so... :giggl:

Ever thought of shutting the door?

Homer came in this morning and an inquisitive sniff. I tried to explain that this is what humans do. But then he tried to steal the loo paper (a favourite trick while i’m Brushing my teeth) a mad vision of trying to run after him if he did nick the toilet paper flashed past my mind.

Today I went round to the farm where we fly our rockets. Every Christmas I take the farmer, Steve, a couple of bottles of wine as a 'thank you' present from our rocketry club.

As I knocked on the door I could hear his terrier going crazy behind the door. Steve said he'd been having a nap with his terrier lying across him and, as I walked up the lane, it jumped off him to the windowsill so it could see who was arriving.

He said that he now knows what out launch pads must feel like.

I dropped my grandson’s supper on the floor when I took it out of the oven (instant lasagne yesterday, no time to cook ‘properly’!). Fortunately it landed the right way up on its tray, but the sauce spattered over the floor. Two dogs appeared from nowhere, so I quickly shut the kitchen gate while I retrieved the lasagne and put it back in the oven, then let them through to clean the floor. Job done!
