What made you smile today?

This was yesterday . Silas was coming for tea , and when he turned up, he had another young lad with him and asked if J could wait until tea was done as they meeting up with friends to go round the village on scooters . I said yes but did J`s Mum know he was at our house ? He said yes she did so that was alright but, how could I feed Silas with another , no doubt hungry ,lad watching ? I asked if he would also like tea , he replied yes please so I said he must ring his Mum to ask if this was ok , thinking of allergies and suchlike . Mum said it was fine and thanked me , so as I had prepared two home made pizzas , one for Silas and one for us later , they ended up demolishing them both , plus a carton of orange juice and yoghurt with fruit ! Paul was looking somewhat alarmed , no doubt wondering what we would end up having in place of the pizza , so we ended up with bacon, eggs and mushrooms ! I had to smile though , after tea both boys said a big thank you , and J added , I loved my tea, I might come again  xx

For some reason I'm wide awake tonight. Have been reflecting on the fact that it is (already!) the Summer Solstice and as such, our lovely Solstice Dog would have been 11 years, 6 months today. As a funny, dear, do her own thing dog, she would have gone up to bed now, no matter where I was. Little Joy however, who is the most 'my' dog I have ever had, is going absolutely nowhere without me and is here at my feet, snoring so gently it's almost a purr. How could I not smile?

Debbie rings every morning , just to check that we are still in the land of the living :hi: Phone rang ten minutes ago , I pick up and say " Hello pet , how is your back this morning ? " Silence for a second or two until our lovely Doctor replied " I`m fine thanks Kate , just ringing to see if Paul is coping on his new medication , and my back is just fine too " .

We had a hail storm which turned into a thunder storm, directly overhead. Cue another dose of drugs for Willow, and she was more upset than I've seen her recently, with a bit of trembling when there were two claps of thunder at the same time, either side of the house. To be fair, we all jumped at that! So our morning walk was put off until it had passed, and once it had, I left Willow on her bed while I got the others ready. I went out the door and shouted to J that I was just taking the three of them, when a black thing streaked past me and ran to the gate, where she stood, prancing to go out.

"You're not going without me, woman!!"

I did a few little training exercises before we set off on our walk, as I often do to get engagement and focus from the start, but left Willow out ... until she barged in on me, demanding she have her turn, too. Tail wagging furiously, hugely responsive to the cues.

It just made me smile so much :)
