Wispa's not well

I’m so sorry the vet couldn’t find what was wrong with poor Wispa. A few years ago my cousins dog was ill. Some similar symptoms to Wispa. Off his food, lethargic. He had all the tests like Wispa. A few days after my cousin had paid for more X-rays with no results he started improving and was back to normal in a few days. He’d been ill for at least two weeks. It was some sort of bug/virus which had‘t shown up on any bloods. I do hope the vet has some answers soon or even better Wispa improves on her own.

Thanks vey much for all the lambies - Wispa seems much brighter today. She had a good night and was ready for some breakfast this morning. By this evening she wanted three helpings of tinned ID, so her appetite seems to be improving! She was really pleased to see my youngest son this evening too when he called in to collect his car on his way home from work. She’s also had all her medication without any problem, with the help of the peanut butter ’mini-sandwiches’. It helps that she’s now happy to catch them when they’re thrown, so she doesn’t have time to be suspicious! She still looks uncomfortable when she’s trying to lie down, but settles well.
It’s good to see some improvement at last, but I hope the test results will determine what’s made her so unwell.

Is she still improving @Granca ?
Yes, she seems to be enjoying her food again - and asking for more! She’s definitely brighter, but her poo is still not back to normal and she’s drinking (and weeing) more.

Last night I woke up, thinking I could hear her barking, so I went down to let her out as usual, only to find that she was sleeping in the kitchen chair, while Tuppy was asleep in the dog bed on the floor. Nevertheless, I let Wispa out, just in case, then went back to bed. Five minutes later Wispa barked, so I went down and found her in the bed and Tuppy on the chair, so I let Wispa out again, then went back to bed… and again she barked. I went down, put some treats on the dog bed for her and went back to bed. She barked again! This time, I went down, turfed Tuppy off the chair, encouraged Wispa to jump onto it again and then settled Tuppy onto the dog bed. No more barking after that!

I still haven’t had the results from the latest tests, but at least Wispa now feels like jumping onto the chair again!

Today the vet phoned with most of Wispa’s test results, all except a specialist cancer test which takes a little longer. The results are all fine - no bacteria or other concerns - so she doesn’t need any further antibiotics once the extended course is finished. The vet now thinks that she has inflammation of the bladder and says to continue the Pardale tablets for any discomfort. She also suggested that she probably has a bit of arthritis in her hips, so wants to continue the Loxicom to help with that.

Wispa continues to seem brighter and enjoyed a short walk yesterday, with far fewer squatting stops than she’d been doing before I had to stop her walks. She even picked up her battered football from the patio to take down the garden this afternoon, but just enjoyed a treat hunt, then mooched around the garden rather than playing with it. She’s now snoozing on the sofa beside me…
