What made you smile today?

Thanks @kateincornwall and @Ashley ( and also @Joy 's thread a few months back which I've reread a few times )
Outside on a walk Monty loves any new dog initially, but then after a few sniffs, or a game of chase with another dog who wants to play, he willl happily rejoin us after just a minute or two, so no sustained interest now ( completely different to a few years ago. )

He chased around with a tiny spaniel today who ambushed our walk, but the moment it started to hump him, he gave a small growl and moved right away once we had separated them (sigh).

I think in the house though, it would be hard work, I'm not sure he would be able to switch off properly as he'd just be so interested in the food, toilet breaks, general attention we would give a puppy. I think he would be constantly up and down, on the go, poking his big snozzle into everything 😁

Before Bear passed on every dog in around was stressful including our own. The answer to this was to create safe spaces that are warm, other dog free and very comfortable. He was then able to relax until he felt up to the challenge. With a pup it would come down to crate and pen as large as you wanted so that your other dog could stay in routine and sleep when needed if you decided to get a pup.

You all know that it wasn’t easy integrating Squidge into the family, but it all worked out in the wash. It was hard work at the time, but that would have been the case if they had all been too playful, too. Separate spaces as needed - the pen was a godsend - and training turn-taking from the offset. It’s not going to be easy at first, but it’s lovely when you come out the other side with another different personality added to the mix. That’s the joy of multiple dogs; how different they all are.

I've always wondered if Ella is so specific in her needs (aka high maintenance) because of her gender. Or, does gender have nothing to do with it? 🤔
I don't think so, Monty's got some odd things going on too, the surface issues, bowls blocking his path, and his latest one is convincing himself he is stuck on various beds / sofas. He's not, and I'm pretty sure he's not in pain, as when you wave a gravy bone around he can get up / off them pretty easily.

Oh @Natalie...it is so tempting. The breeder of Hunter unfortunately has a long term illness and has to sell some of her dogs....Phoebe is 5.5 years old.....yellow....a girl which could cause a dilemma....so tempting! My knee is still not dog walkable at the moment......

Went into the utility room early thisevening to get some potatoes and there was a huge and handsome Bumble Bee trying frantically to escape through a non opening window. Caught him in a glass with a piece of card and released him outside. As I set him free the sunlight caught the glass and showed a beautiful light dusting of pollen on the inside. A little moment of magic!:bee:
