What made you smile today?

Three things have made me smile today x
Debbie has a lovely man in her life after being on her own for ten years, she is very happy and so is he x
My step granddaughter has passed her A levels with flying colours and is off to Northampton Uni in September to study law x
Last but by no means least , Nelly, oh she does make us laugh , waiting patiently for Reuben to come home from Playgroup whereupon she flies around the house and garden , so excited that brother is home again , equilibrium is restored xx

I'm looking down at Trixie this morning, as I walk through the house...easy to find her, as she's hanging by her teeth from my cargo pants' pockets.

and the thought pops into my mind.:

Ignore the unwanted behavior, and reward what you want to see.

So I chuckle to myself, and continue on as though there's not in fact a puppy attached to my leg

While I would normally take a second to remove her, this morning I had things in both hands...and the mental note made me laugh!

We had the preschool St Martin's Day Lantern Walk tonight. It was so sweet seeing all the little ones with their lanterns. Rowan had TWO because he transitioned from the toddler room to preschool while they were making them, lucky boy. The kids put on a little play about St Martin and the chef made pretzels for everyone. Then we had dinner with the grandparents. Everyone is very tired now!

Today we have had the most wonderful day. A lovely and at times hilarious walk thismorning with @SteffiS and the gorgeous Toffee, back to their beautiful home for cups of tea, scones, fig jam and ginger biscuits (all delicious and homemade) and met the equally gorgeous Ripple and @SteffiS OH, who very kindly picked figs from their tree for Liz. A great meet up, we'd like to thank them for their hospitality and will post photos when I've sorted through them.
Then thisevening went to Pakefield beach to fulfill a long held ambition of mine.... to swim with my dog.
As you can see, it made me smile. Literally a Joyful experience and one of the best things I've ever done!20220819_171201.jpg20220819_171214.jpg

I haven't heard of this. Can you tell us more? Or me anyway.
St Martin's Day is celebrated in Germany and surrounding countries- confusingly in November but I guess the school celebrates it in winter here... Kids in Germany all make lanterns at school and walk around town singing, then have a bonfire and pretzels.

I don't know much about St Martin himself. Apparently he gave his cloak to a beggar in a snowstorm.
