I must be mad - I mean seriously mad!

Nope, definitely manual. It doesn’t come in auto. It was brand new, part of a huge fleet of the little bastards, so I’m sure there was nothing wrong with it, other than it just being a total can. I think @Emily_Babbelhund may be onto something with it just being a Fiat 500 thing. I was...

I must be mad - I mean seriously mad!

I hired a hybrid Fiat 500 recently. Worst car I’ve ever driven. Underpowered to the point of being dangerous, you had to drive inefficiently in order to charge the battery, it drained when you didn’t want it to and left you with no power when you needed it. It was incredibly stressful to drive...

It's that time of year again

I was in Andorra for most of last week and over the weekend. It was 25C in the apartment. I had a cardi and the heating on. BRRRR!!!

    Beautiful Bella

She had zoomies on our morning walk. Spinning and shouting is back to full effect. The spaniel has re-entered the building 😁

    Clumpy fur

Perfectly normal. I find it hugely satisfying de-tufting my dogs 😂 One year, Shads got a bit carried away and was almost naked by the time he finished - just in time for the winter. He’s such a dick, even with his moulting 🤷‍♀️

    Additional tests for Reuben

    Great news, Kate! The best!

    Beautiful Bella

Poor Bella isn't having a good time of it at the moment. As well as all her checkups and bottom stuff (we've just started a course of light therapy! WTF?!) I had to take her in last week to have a grass seed removed from her inner ear - and they found one in both. And today she was in to have a...

The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Willow would have rolled on it. Ginny would have rolled on it. Squidge would have eaten it. Bella would have rolled on it then eaten it. Shadow would have sniffed it in disgust and walked away with a pained expression.

    Medicating anxious dogs

This. Huge red lights about this trainer right here.

    Beautiful Bella

There are other surgeries possible, but they're complicated due to the number of nerve endings in the area. And the issue with her having neurological issues which mean she has less control in that area means that the general outward flow of materials is always pushing the rectum outwards...

    Beautiful Bella

Thanks for asking, @jazzmynn. Unfortunately, the surgery failed, and the prolapse has recurred. She's been into the vet seven times since Easter Monday (!) and is back for another review this coming Monday, to make a plan of next action. That said, she's totally happy in herself and as crazy as...

Training ideas for a *temporary* multi-dog household

You have some of the Absolute Dogs resources, right? You can use their boundary games with mutliple dogs, and it doesn't really take an awful lot of training to get a basic understanding of them staying on their individual platforms until called off. The key is to switch them out regularly (...

    What is the saying?

We generally say "rather a day too early than a day too late". If you want to use day/week then I'd switch them to "rather a week too early rather than a day too late" would be my preference. Because a whole week too late would be horrific.

    Possible Mast Cell Tumour

I’m so sorry to hear about this Kate, it’s so unfair. It sounds as if Reuben has no idea of the worry he’s at the centre of though, and isn’t suffering any symptoms. Hopefully your medical team will be able to operate quickly and get the whole bastard thing out. Big hugs x

    Lump on face

Huge relief, Emily! Yay, yay, YAY! Hopefully it can be cleared up easily and she will be back to her beautiful best in no time.

    Neo’s anxieties

YES! You might want to grab a coffee for this. It may turn into War and Peace :D I medicated Willow for chronic anxiety. I felt that I should be able to do it all with training - I knew the theory of behaviour adjustment through counter conditioning and felt a failure when I wasn't able to use...

    Beautiful Bella

Oh, but karma got me for being smug at not getting hit by flying poo yesterday. 4:30am found me leaping out of bed as Bella did a huge and very loud liquipoo, which was so powerful it blew her nappy off! So there I was, showering the dog and changing the bedding in the wee (or poo?!) hours :giggl:

    Beautiful Bella

Thanks. The vet took a look, says she doesn't need restitching and gave her another anti-inflammatory. We have another appointment for one tomorrow, too. I went to pay, and they said it wasn't necessary. I didn't pay anything yesterday, either! :o

    Beautiful Bella

We had a trip to the emergency vet this morning - because these things ALWAYS happen out of hours, right?! She couldn’t poo at all this morning and her poor bot was hugely distended. She was obviously in pain. So, off to the vet who removed one of her stitches and a hard little nugget of poo...
