Along with what @SwampDonkey mentioned, I think that dogs can also pick up on the extreme emotions of other dogs in the household and can develop reactions/responses they wouldn't otherwise (if the dog is extremely fearful, or reactive for example) -maybe something like that too?

This is very sad news - when you say someone broke down your fence, did Shamas get out or did the dog come onto your property? Hopefully the vet can help with any pain he may be in and discuss things with you.

Quinn was being too competitive and not sharing her ball. Primrose was bullying some kids who told on her for being too rough at recess and stole someone’s lunch. Quinn was one of them.

I think they can smell them! Quinn always digs out old, broken balls buried in brush and muck on walks! However, she also remembers places she found things (like the full pizza on a walk at my parents- she checks there every time and that find was years ago)....
