    What made you smile today?

They are so clever, aren't they? Someone walking yesterday saw Merlin picking, and asked whether it was safe or whether I worry that he might hurt himself. I said he seems to manage just fine...

    What made you smile today?

So many blackberries this year! Does anyone else's dog pick their own blackberries or other berries? Merlin is a great picker of fruit - he walks along snacking off all the low-hanging blackberries he can find. In season he also picks blueberries. But with there being so many blackberries at...

We had a really nice little outing this morning. We drove to a local valley running through forested hills, with a stream, where it is always nice and cool. OH and Merlin went for a good hike, about an hour and a half, and Poppy and I just chilled - bit of sniffing, bit of meandering, bit of...

Help! We have a border collie for the weekend

Poor lad, it must be disorientating for him! And poor you too of course if he can't settle. It's very kind of you to look after him for the weekend.

See, he had a lovely time at the market with you, meeting other dogs and children there! It sounds like a grand time was had by all. And I agree about the medication - we've come to much the same conclusion with Poppy.

    Tummy problems

I hate stomach upsets; they are so worrying. Fingers crossed Jazz is over the worst now and on the way to full recovery.

Gosh, I don't think it was your friend's place to say that! She could have hinted at it in a much more discreet way; I'm not surprised you were upset and cried! Snowy looks happy, and I agree with the others, you will know when he's had enough.

    What made you smile today?

I love the story about the labrador charging around the garden, with the workers trying to stop him jumping in and ruining the hole!!!

Thank you everyone. In the usual way of things, she is actually a lot better today! We've upped her medication, and she is steadier on her back legs, not as lame on her front legs, and is back to being bright and cheerful in herself. She hates the heat, and it is very hot here right now...
