Librela - a new option for pain relief for dogs with osteo arthritis

It really didn't help Poppy at all after the first month. I think she only had three injections in total. I've heard from lots of people that its efficiency decreases over time. The article is worrying, for sure.

    Red is not well

So happy that Red has got her sparkle back!!!

    Hard decision

Awww, that's always a tough one. He'll be fine, and he won't even miss them! He'll be uncomfortable for a couple of days and then back to normal. One small word of warning - Merlin has become far, far greedier since being neutered and we have to be so very careful with his food as he put on...

Snowie’s paws are too sore for walking

Ah, that looks so sore!! Poor boy. I'm glad he had such a lovely time in the forest though!

    Poppy

We did a little bit of training today (really consisting of me hiding the dummy in the leaves in the wood and then letting her search for it). Look how happy it made her!! You can see how proud and fulfilled she is. Even if she limps a bit more than usual tomorrow, it is worth it for her quality...

    Poppy

Hi Cath, I got this one: Dog ramp It's been a great success, but we had a total fail with an indoors one that she simply hates and will not use!!

    Poppy not eating!!!

Thank you all, I will try to find goat yogurt. We have normal cow yogurt; they certainly like that so until I can get the goat stuff they can have a spoonful of the natural cow stuff.

    Poppy not eating!!!

Merlin is still not quite 100%, but so much better than he was. They both had their third antibiotic injection this morning, and I took in the six poo samples, which showed up - nothing! No worms, no giardia, no other parasites. So presumably it was just a D&V bug (which has been going around)...

    Red is not well

So good to hear Red is home safe and sound, and that there was nothing untoward showed up in the scan.

    Red is not well

Oh, so the ultrasound is under anaesthetic? Any ultrasound my dogs have had has been done either just with a light sedative, or without anything, depending on what was being checked. But I guess maybe they think she would not hold still for long enough; perhaps they need to position her on her...

    Poppy not eating!!!

They're both a lot better, thank you. Poos pretty much back to normal. Merlin is still rather subdued and with very stinky flatulence. They had their second injections today. We've mostly been in the garden with just a couple of little wanders over to the woods today. Fingers crossed we have a...

I really hope this will give you some answers Alison, and a way forward. Poor Red. But this is definitely for the best.

    Red is not well

Alison, did your vet check for giardia? Just asking, as Red's symptoms are similar to Poppy's and it was the vet's suggestion yesterday (once we had ruled out poison).

    Poppy not eating!!!

We had a quiet night (I slept downstairs with them) and they both seem much better, thank goodness!! Poppy had a pretty normal poo; no poos yet from Merlin (not surprising as he has had nothing to eat since yesterday breakfast, which he then sicked up undigested in the evening). Both are hungry...
