Doggy brags

So proud of Reuben yesterday afternoon . We were at a point in our short woodland walk where the river widens but it is down a steep bank so I cant get to it but I can throw his ball into the water for him to retrieve, his best game ever . Somehow , I threw with a strength I didnt know I possessed, it flew right over the river, landing in very thick undergrowth on the far side up an equally steep bank . At the point at which I chucked it , he was not paying full attention but I sent him into the river whereupon he searched around , then looked up at me for direction . Shouting out to him to get back and use his nose, he then scrambled out of the water on the far side and began a good nose to ground search , eventually finding it , clambering back into the water and swimming back to our side . He was so happy with himself , had much praise but for Reuben, his reward was another retrieve which I happily gave him but not so far this time

I had the gardener in today and Rory and Iver were so sweet and so funny. They went for their am walk and then the visitors arrived. Trevs wife Lorraine came too just so she could play with the dogs. I work with Lorraine she loves dogs and Trevs mum breeds labs so they were very dog friendly people. Trev did an amazing job and still found time to play with the dogs and introduce them carefully to heavy duty garden equipment. The dogs didn't forget their manner either and only ran off with gloves boots and clippers occasionally. They were so tired when they left having had loads of cuddles and fun. They really enjoyed gardening

I’ve been feeling frustrated with both girls lately - the pulling is just nuts, even if OH and I each have a dog walking separately. I’ve been losing my patience and had to take a step back - today I did separate training walks and Quinn good as gold and just so impressed with Primrose! She’s so responsive and focused on me the whole time. She didn’t pull once on a flat collar. Obviously need to spend a lot more 1:1 time with each!

Brilliant @Ashley ! I still don't walk our two together unless OH is with me. Monty is fine but we go at a completely different pace if Bear is with us!
I took Bear on just a half hour pavement walk on Monday. He was exhausted from his week away and that's the only exercise he had. As I hadn't done any LLW training with him for two weeks I was almost dreading it, but oddly, he walked so well with me, constantly checking in and looking up at me. Yes, there was a shed load of treats for him, and there were a couple of lunges at a pigeon and a cat, but I was pleasantly surprised.

@Natalie I had been doing one walk per day together, spending time training one on each side of me loose leash, but if I let up for a second they pull ahead and each is trying to get ahead of the other. Quinn doesn't pull on a pavement walk on her own at all - so it was extra frustrating! I think probably I was trying too much too soon. I do off leash in the field together in the mornings and I'm reverting back to separate on-leash walks other than that!

We have had carpet fitters in today. The front door has been open the whole time they were here. Red has been totally unfazed by all the comings and goings and the noise. She’s either sat by our feet or on her sitting room bed where she can see the hall and the stairs. One of the carpet fitters noticed her as they finished and said ‘Goodness didn’t know you’d got a dog’. I said ‘Can she say hello now?’ which she did. So proud of my girl ❤. She could have run out the door at any point or barked or just got in the way

GoodGirlRed! She has been an even Gooder Girl than GGJ would manage to be! My hall, stairs and landing are in desperate need of smartening up.I had hoped to get it all done last year but of course it wasn't possible. This year it's starting with the tired old carpet being taken up and some much more practical tiles being put down. Mark, who built my beautiful shed is doing the work for me, but Joy and I will be staying in Hucknall with Little Brother and Jenny while he does it, because she loves Mark SO much and would keep wanting to help!
