I don't know how you kept your cool @Emily_Babbelhund I would have hit that arse with his ball chucker
People here in Cornwall have been overwhelmingly so kind with Carbon's occasional beach hooliganism that I was just so astonished and didn't know how to react. Carbon was still dancing around happily so obviously it didn't actually hurt him and that was the important thing. If he would have yelped or cringed, it would have been a different story. We'd had such a good day that I just didn't want to ruin my mood (and Carbon's) by getting in a yelling match with a jerk. All it would have done was upset me for the rest of the day and I'm sure wouldn't have bothered the jerk in the slightest.

The knob with the chuckit??? I would have redesigned his fucking head with it, free of charge!
Do you know what, I was trying to find words to express my reaction but @Beanwood has just captured it perfectly. Thank you. Precise and eloquent.
Well done Carbon, what a good boy you are. And well done @Emily_Babbelhund too (for work with Carbon but mainly for the "smile plastered on". You did better than I'd have done.

@Emily_Babbelhund I would have freaked, my personal opinion is if you have a toy/ball/chuck it thrower at any dog-centric location, you and your dog should be OK with sharing! If you are annoyed with other dogs joining the fun, then don't bring it.
I do wish more people had that attitude. But I also respect that some dogs are reactive or don't like to share, so I should have control of my own dog not bum-rushing them. That wasn't the case with yesterday's jerk - his dog was very friendly. But oh well...

Joy and I walked to her favourite big field today and met up with LOADS of dogs she knows and loves to play with. Altogether we ended up with four Labs, two Viszlers, a Pointer something cross, three Lurchers, two pugs and three Jack Russells, one of which was just thirteen weeks old! Fifteen dogs in all, all racing and chasing round under the watchful eyes of their hoomans and having a wonderful time, no bullying behaviour, just having fun in the sun and the river. We hoomans were deep in conversation about dogs eating spring grass and pooing (that's when you know you're amongst proper dog people) when two women riding horses appeared. Aagh! They pulled up at the edge of the field and there was much peeping of whistles and urgent calling of dogs. It is hard to believe I know, but in what must have been less than a minute every single one of these fifteen excited dogs was on lead and sitting! The horses passed by calmly, the dogs sat calmly, the riders thanked us all and asked if it was a dog training class! When we said that it wasn't, they replied 'Well, they're very well behaved'. After they'd gone the dogs got lots of fuss and were let off to play some more. We were all amazed! We kept asking how that had happened and would it ever happen again! Most of us I think felt it was a sheer fluke. We were all very proud of our dogs though!
