Harleys arthritis

We just managed to get her to eat some steamed chicken :happyfeet: She had a few strips and asked for more. We are going to keep trying to give her small bits throughout the day and hopefully she will keep taking it.

Vets have called and her bloods are not showing anything. They think it might be a bug and if she’s still passing blood or being sick we need to go back for scans.

I tried to take her for a walk - we managed about 200 foot very very slowly. She then turned around and came home. Shes still very subdued and sleeping a lot. OH has gone to get pumpkin so we will try that later too.

Good news about the chicken, that sounds like a step in the right direction. She's probably feeling quite tired and drained, hence the lack of enthusiasm for a walk. Sleep will do her lots of good. Humans produce the hormones needed for healing and growth during sleep, and I presume that this is the same for dogs.

Oh Naya I am so very sorry to hear this about poor Harley!!! I do hope she improves over the next couple of days. Such a terrible worry these dogs can be, of course they can't tell us what's wrong... :(

Did your OH manage to get one? Hope Harley is better today
She refused it last night, but we will try again today.
This morning she asked for food for the first time. She ate 1/4 of a chicken breast :happyfeet: She still has diarrhoea, but isn’t every hour like it was. She slept for 7 hours straight last night which is great.

I spoke to my dog walker last night and when I described Harley’s symptoms, he reminded me of his dog in the summer, how ill he was and the symptoms were almost identical - he had salmonella poisoning. I’m going to try and collect stool samples today and take them to the vet to get tested.

That is why I asked if you had done a poo sample. A friend of mine's 6 month puppy had Salmonella a couple of weeks ago. He is fine now.

POO PHOTO ALERT!

Harley has had a better 24 hours and is now eating better. We managed a very slow 20 minute walk around the block which was great.
I am still concerned that she has diarrhoea after 6 days. Last night and this morning the blood is no longer bright red and I’m not sure if I need to be concerned or not. I’ve got sample pots from my vet yesterday so am trying to catch her in the act. My vets are closed today until Tuesday. What are your thoughts?

I would try and get her to eat pumpkin and pasta, just a little bit. Is she drinking? Let her do her own thing sleep or go for a slow walk.
When Fred had blood in his poo, he had more than your photo

Just to recap @Naya Has your vet given her anything to help her?
