I am so sorry @JES72, have you tried giving him small feeds more often? Is there any food you think he might be allergic to? Many dogs can't take chicken. Clutching at straws here but anything is worth a try. Does he seem hungry, does he like his food? If he hasn't lost his appetite that is more encouraging. Maybe the food collects in his oesophagus so has to come back up? Small meals may help?

He is sensitive to chicken so we cut that out a long time back. He is on Purina Hypoallergenic food as advised by the vet. At least it's so bland it isnt repulsive to clean up. I have tried meals of different sizes, but its hard to tell. We had some success with two meals a day rather than four smaller ones as he wasn't usually sick with his breakfast so thought maybe an empty stomach before eating was better but then that isn't a certain rule either.

He is always hungry and has a good appitite which is a positive.

We can try a different medication so will get back to the vet on Monday.

I’m so sorry. You must be exhausted with worry and trying to think of new ways to help Homer. Have they looked at how his stomach empties on the other end? Is the food able to easily move into the small intestine? Also clutching at straws, but this came to mind thinking of Ozempic (diabetic drug that my SIL is on), which slows down stomach emptying which makes her feel nauseas. If Homer’s stomach could empty faster (in the right direction), it hopefully wouldn’t come back up.

I think he may have become sensitive to peanut butter. I put peanut butter on his lick mat last night to help him stay upright for longer. We had a night of horrible gurgling and finally he vomited 🤮 mostly bile with a stinky nutty smell. Although I also put a small spoon of plain gelatine when I soaked his kibble to make it more slippery.

there is so much trial and error it’s so hard working out what is working when and what isn’t working.

all suggestions are very much welcome as they help me think it all through.

That’s partly my thinking. I think it takes him a long time to get food through his stomach, I don’t think don’t think more regular meals help because that’s just adding more un-digested food on top of what’s already in there.

I buy goats yoghurt for my boxer dog who has a very sensitive tummy, a couple of dessert spoons of goats yoghurt every day settles his tummy and keeps him fit, healthy and very happy as he absolutely loves it after his meal each evening.
