The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Only just managed to get on the forum with my wretched wi-fi which comes and goes and is also very slow. Have had 6 phone calls to BT over the last week! @Emily_Babbelhund, I hope you are now out of the tunnel and well on your way to Spain. I wonder if Carbon will acclimatise to the hotter weather, or being the Spanish gentleman just accept it as the life he was brought up in! Miss you and Carbon.

Trevor and I loved Collioure! We had two holidays there, staying in an apartment just overlooking the bridge in your photo, with wonderful views of the harbour and castle. Hope you're enjoying it as much as we did! Have you found the Bar des Templiers? Amazing place with paintings by the pupils of several famous artists, also the food is really good. Have a great time!

Thank you for all the nice messages to read once we got into our hotel! Safe and sound in Abbeville (wherever that is!) tucked into a reliably boring Ibis Budget. I'm absolutely knackered (love that UK term) and Carbon is snoozing away (which is why he isn't writing of course). It's not hot at all yet (17C when we rolled in), which meant I could stop at a grocery store and stock up on some things for the rest of the drive. It's not M&S, but it worked.

It was funny coming off the of Eurotunnel and onto the motorway - for at least the first 30 minutes driving south, it was ONLY UK number plates on the road with us. It was also very disorientating driving on the right - I really have to keep saying out loud, "Drive on the right, don't kill anybody!!".

Tomorrow it's onward to La Rochelle. 🚙

I sent you a message!

I want to say a huge thank you to @Rosie, her OH and the incomparable Pongo for being such wonderful hosts. What a lovely visit with beautiful people and dogs, the Welsh countryside and delicious food. I’m also so grateful that Cassie and @Selina27 could visit too, despite the interference of Ed Sheeran. It was a grand send-off from the UK.
And a huge thank you back to @Emily_Babbelhund and Carbon (and @Selina27 and Cassie) for looking after the Pongster for a whole day while we were away! Pongo says he's sorry that he was so very fascinated by Carbon's bottom when he first arrived (although it is a very fine bottom indeed), and he had a supersupersuper lovely time. And he is very glad that Carbon enjoyed his pacca-poo treats.

Safe travels, Emily and senor! We will see you again soon. Enjoy the Spanish sunshine...
Love from Pongo and both his hoomans
xxxx

I stayed at the Youth Hostel in La Rochelle a year or so ago:wink:(actually I was 18 at the time!):$ I loved it. Hope it hasn't changed too much and that you and Carbón enjoy it too. You'll have sea, like in Cornwall, but with any luck you'll also have SUN...... and who knows, maybe even a little bit of warmth?!
Safe travels, have a good time, looking forward to you coming back, even though that will mean it's winter again!xxx

It’s a relief to know that you got your train! I was really worried that you wouldn’t, as the traffic reports were bad. I’m sorry you weren’t able to visit on your way through, but hoping to see you and Carbon in six months! :)

Meanwhile, have a safe journey. Looking forward to reading about your new adventures! x

Hola amigos! Today the magical TARDIS transported ML and I from somewhere in France to somewhere else in France. The second somewhere was called La Rochelle and there was some big exciting football game because everyone was dressed as bumblebees in yellow and black and it was VERY LOUD. Except where the streets were empty and there is was very quiet. I will not lie to you, it was a leeeetle bit strange, and I am a dog who does not often grasp the subtleties of life, sabes?

ML was bothered by all the people so I had to help her by sitting in her lap in a quiet spot and reminding her it was dinnertime by licking her face. I was bothered by the apparent fact that French people do not walk and eat chips like English people do so there was an appalling lack of food on the ground. All in all, I am not sure either one of us appreciated La Rochelle as much as we could have done.

Pero no hace nada, no worries, we are off to Spain tomorrow and ML says that instead of going to the big city, we may take a walk in the country instead. Que bien! Maybe I will find some sheep poo. Or MAYBE there will be magical alpacas in Spain, like at @Rosie 's? That would be un sueño, a dream for your señor!

Mucha gente, a lot of people - we are out of practice

So we went to the back streets to hide.

The town hall. That is a very nice town hall, no? It would have looked better with me in front though.

Pure elegance, I swear to you, mis amigos, pure elegance.
