Weather

Had a power cut for a couple of hours, electricity company said we would be off until 8.30 this evening! So although we are back on, could go off again any minute. Poor Rourke hasn't been out, the first time in his ten years! Not sure about going out this pm, still very windy and wary of falling trees!
Cass didn't go out until 2pm! She kept looking at me as if I had done something to the weather, she was not impressed at all.
I was able to avoid going near trees, but across the fields of course the wind is stronger, it nearly blew me over - so you would be wise to avoid going out if you can, if Rourke can.
I could hear the wind going through what is left of the wood like a train in a tunnel. I have never heard anything like it in my life before.

This is the view from my hall window. There was a loud thump a little while ago and my neighbour’s fence had blown down, fortunately into her drive and not into my window!

Her fence is on top of a low brick wall, with each panel supported by a brick pillar. The force of the wind took not just the fence panel, which needed replacing anyway, but the brick pillar too.

OH went out with the boys in the end as Bear was getting very testy, he went to some open fields which seemed the safest option to avoid trees and flying debris. The wind was extremely strong, though maybe not as bad as we were expecting here - but it chilled him to the bone and they were all glad to be back in the car after half an hour or so.

It's (I hope!) at full throttle here now. I've lit the stove early, not because it's particularly cold but because it's so grim outside! Joy has had some games in the house to keep her busy. She loves this, presumably because they all involve food! Here she is snuffling carrot peelings out of an old towel .20220218_134801.jpgI'm just hoping that the garden table stays put. It's extremely heavy and could do some serious damage if it got blown anywhere. :scared:

Forget about falling trees where I live, it is now falling roof tiles. My area is full of houses built 1890/1900 so big tall houses with 2 stories and also attics. Trees are falling everywhere as the ground here is sand based. Hunter is feeling the need to be close and is sat on my feet. Bit grim.
My parents just had a new fence replaced from the last storm.. So luckily it is still there but their neighbour (who refused to renew his fence) is now fenceless.
Hope everybody stays safe. X
