I always imagined it as a very old and quiet town - wrong
It used to be I’m sure! I went to high school there and can’t ever remember it being as busy as it is now. The problem is that the main road to St Andrews passes through Cupar, so on nice days when everybody is heading to the beach, it’s an absolute nightmare!

THIS IS MY BLOODY SUMMER
Right now I would willingly swap! It was 78F in my bedroom when I woke up (and the fan had been on all night). I've taken the dogs out in the garden, but although it was overcast it was still already too hot, so I sat on the swing seat trying to generate a breeze while they mooched around. I hate feeling worn out when it's only 10am!

The man up the road who lives in the flat above the restaurant said it was 36 in his bedroom last night! Homer got me up three times to go and wallow in his paddling pool for a little midnight dip.

We were meant to go man trailing this morning but I decided that it would be too hot for Homer, and that I needed to sleep in after being up all night.

What I find concerning is the lack of cold air-con in your part of the world. I know it is rare, but when it gets this hot you need to have an outlet to somewhere you can escape the heat completely. It is unbearable to be in 35+ heat without air-con.

Good luck friends

Perfect here today...but for the last week it's either rained or we've been hidden under Manannan's Cloak. The warnings on Monday & Tuesday are for thunderstorms.

We have air con in our conservatory - it was put in by the previous owners and we’d never used it until the other day - we always open the windows and doors and there’s a ceiling fan. It was interesting to use as it did keep us cool but felt a bit unnatural having the windows and doors shut.

I’m sat outside now in the shade. It’s 25 and there is a delightful breeze

I say the same to my Dad in South Africa about putting a heater on in the middle of a cold snap in winter. They’d be all huddled up in jumpers under quilts than turn on the heater, they have one but don’t think about putting it on.
