Yikes, weren't you tempted to change your ticket to stay in Germany a few days longer? Those videos of planes landing at Heathrow would have put me off for sure!

But glad you're at home safe and sound.
I was but I have an appointment with my surgeon on Tuesday so home I had to head!

I felt like I was flying on the back of a giant swan - not a plane, there was so much veering and banking! My son is training to become a airline captain and he’s doing ‘very strong crosswind’ training today and tomorrow, in a simulator, thankfully!
Only captains are allowed to land in high winds.

✈ 🙂

The next storm is currently landing in Cornwall. We won't have Internet for sometime yet, the boiler is on and will not be turned off again until its been fixed, whenever that is ! Power keeps flickering once more . Never mind it could be so much worse, lots of people in the village are still without power . My mobile data is just about used up, so I doubt I will get back on here for much longer. Oh yes, Reubs decided to be sick at 3 this morning, poor lovebut he seems OK now xxx

It's raging on our side too. I'm really really lucky because the power has only flickered off for less than 30 minutes at a time and my mobile data has kept chugging along throughout. A lot of houses in the holiday park are without power. Someone from the power company (?) came by earlier today and said they had set up a mobile charging station at the entrance to the park if I needed to use it. He seemed shocked that I was snug as a bug with my phones all charged up, thanks very much.

My wifi has even been on for the last five minutes, knock on wood.

Listening to the wind all day got me kind of homesick for Spain, but not in a good way. The Levante used to blow days at a time and drive everyone nutty balls. My first few years there, I thought they were all wimps to complain about it so much. Then we had 10 days in a row of it and I thought I'd go crazy from the constant howling. Now I react to wind (and loud bathroom fans) like nails on a chalkboard. Get me out! 😳

But yeah...still grateful to have power, heat and (thank you Vodafone) the internet. Nothing to complain about except my own brain going, "OK, that's enough now!" 😉

I'm guessing @Emily_Babbelhund Cornwall being buffeted by gales is not new either? Judging by what I have read in the Poldark novels anyway!
Actually not so much during the time I'm usually here - maybe more in the autumn? Or maybe there is more wind in the Poldark novels/tv so that it can rip the shirt off of the main character's manly chest? 😉

The stuff in Spain was a whole other level. I remember chasing dog poo down the street because it would blow away the second it came out. And car doors being deadly leg-amputating devices if you weren't very careful. It's one reason that the Costa de la Luz isn't built up like the Costa del Sol: tourists don't really care for the free dermabrasion treatment if you try to lay on the beach certain times of the year. 😂
