What made you smile today?

Iโ€™ve just done a Zoom talk for a cub pack about Guide Dogs.

It was really good fun! 20 Cubs plus leaders. They asked LOTS of questions - really rewarding.

I bet they really loved that and had a great time. Did you get some really obscure questions?
I'm a leader with our local Cub pack and when we have guests to talk to them, they always come up with really bizarre questions or ones that as an adult we'd never even thought about, they can definitely keep you on your toes!

Yes - they really did! I enjoyed it far more than I expected.

I told them I used to be a teacher and one cub asked where I taught - turns out I taught two of their Mums.

What made me smile was that we got a delivery of tasty treats, and I gave the ladies a rabbit ear each. Talia pranced around with it like a spring lamb, and Nisha just laid straight down where she was and started to chew. It's so nice that, however slow progress may be and how far they are from having "normal" lives, I can still give them some nice things to make their days brighter.

Brilliant! I was about seven when I caught the space bug. At 64, and after a career in aerospace, I still haven't shaken it off!
Joseph has high functioning autism and has been into space since he was 3 years old, he is 23 now. Space will always be his obsession. When he was at primary school the boys were talking about football, Joseph was talking about NASA, he talks about it for hours. It's a fascinating subject. x

I really do have some lovely, thoughtful, kind friends. Joy and I happened to see Jason when we were on our way up to Norland thismorning and she was absolutely beside herself with happiness. Thisevening he's just sent me a message saying that he and his wife, Sofija were talking about this and about how Joy is still a bit anxious when we walk in the area where she was attacked. This was outside a pub, where we have often sat on summer evenings and where Joy used to really like to go. They suggested that they could go and sit there at the time when we would be passing and make a fuss of Joy to try and help her have happy associations with the place again. We're starting tomorrow morning. They're not even dog owners themselves. Isn't it just lovely of them to think of that?
