Yeah it doesn’t look great does it? Vets say the only thing they can think it is is where his hair is rubbing off from when he’s laying because it’s only there, and not irritating him at all so they’re a bit stumped.
He certainly doesn't look troubled by it (or anything else) in that photo! Happy boy!

Well, yes it is significant hair loss but as @Candy says he's not troubled by it.

Can dogs get alopecia? Just wondering if it coincided with any change in his life and it was a small physical reaction to it?

No he’s had it years. I can’t remember when it started, it was before I had Rory because I remember being a work upset he was going to go bald and look like a plucked chicken.

It maybe coincided with my pregnancy but I can’t see that having much of an effect on him, his life didn’t change. It’s just a mystery. Every time we go to the vets for something I mention it and they all say they think it’s just being rubbed off when he lays down. He’s quite deep chested so it’s possible but I’m not convinced.

They can get seasonal alopecia. Rory gets odd hair loss now around moulting time. We've had his thyroid etc checked and they are ok. I've tried a intensive coat suppliment from lintbells. The do a yumega intensive suppliment which I use about a month before moult which seems to help.

@Sophiedoodle you're gorgeous and those puppies are so happy. That video has totally made me smile! 😁

@Jen I think I already asked you this, but it's nothing to do with Stanley's harness, right? Carbon has patchy fur in the same area but not completely naked like Stanley - for him it's definitely just his harness rubbing. And I'm a guilty Mama Lady for not sorting a different harness out for him after all this time.
