What made you smile today?

Comedy moment
Homer and I came back from a rather wet muddy walk, Hubby takes one look and says best you put his coat on him. So get Homer's ruff wear robe over his head and wrap him up and am then busy wiping down the mud splattered all over the kitchen cupboards, not noticing the back door is open. H goes straight through the door and into his full paddling pool for a wallow with his coat on and then comes inside flooding the kitchen floor. A ruff wear coat fully soaked can hold quite a lot of water!
He took himself off for a bath! Clever Homer!

As mentioned in another thread, GGJ and I got spectacularly wet on our walk thismorning. After drying off (both of us) and having lunch (me) we snoozed (Joy mostly) and read (me). Then it was Joy's teatime and she was also likely to need a wee. It was absolutely pouring down outside and I really didn't want to get drenched again, so I opened the patio door a little way and said to her, 'Go on then, be quick!' She stood and looked at the rain, then bless her she went out, had a wee then came straight back in again to be dried off! That gave me a BIG smile!😍

A visit to the vet made me smile today - and made the vet and nurse smile too!

For well over eighteen months, until first lockdown in March 2020, I had been taking Wispa fortnightly to the veterinary practice’s desensitisation clinic. The clinic sessions were run on a one-to-one basis by some of the nurses, with one of the vets popping in when possible too. When Wispa first met the vet who we subsequently saw regularly, he stood with his back to the wall in the consulting room, looking as if he wished it would swallow him up, while Wispa stood and barked at him, her tail firmly clamped under her tummy.

We saw the same two nurses and vet over the months, occasionally introducing another nurse or vet in case she ever needed treatment when ‘her’ team were unavailable and she gradually relaxed and became happier with the visits. The photo below was taken in 2018.

Fast forward to today. Both dogs had been booked in for their boosters with ‘Wispa’s‘ vet. He came out to the car to help me take the dogs into the surgery and of course Wispa barked in the car park. However, she went happily into the consulting room, wagging her tail, and proceeded to lick the vet frantically. She then let him give her a thorough examination (although he didn’t push shining a light into one of her ears!) and was as good as gold when being held by her favourite nurse while having her jab. She then continued to try to lick the vet while he was trying to examine a shaking, whining Tuppence.

What a change from 2018! Wispa hasn’t forgotten their kindness, even though the sessions had to stop eighteen months ago, and to see her so relaxed and happy in what was originally such a stressful situation for everyone made us all smile! :dug:
