GGJ and I sat outside tonight, because it's lovely to be home and it's a (rare) beautiful warm evening. I bought some perfectly ripe strawberries thisafternoon and had some at lunchtime, then finished them off just now, before bed. This has suddenly brought back a memory from my childhood that made me smile.
Similarly lovely evening, me aged about 5 or 6, Mum brought us strawberries and cream in the garden just before bedtime.
Me, 'Please, please, please, just this once can I be allowed not to clean my teeth before bed?'
My mum, 'Why?'
Me, 'Because this tastes so lovely and I'd really love to go to sleep with the taste of strawberries and cream in my mouth.'
My mum (hugging me and laughing) 'You are SO much my daughter! Alright then, just this once!' Tonight however, you'll be pleased to hear that I will clean my teeth. This set has to last!

Every evening, usually as I sit down to catch the early evening News, Joy gets a frozen stuffed Kong. This started when she was a puppy and is her signal that it's time to settle down for the evening. Whenever another dog is staying, of course he/she also gets a Kong and it always makes me a bit sad if they don't know what to do with it.
Well, Keir is currently with us until Monday, as his person has gone away for birthday celebrations. Keir has no doubt whatsoever about what to do with a Kong, infact earlier on he was pawing me, I suspect wanting it a bit sooner. I always think I could tell a dog who's been brought up by Mags@Boogie anywhere, they always know exactly what a Kong is for, which makes me smile.
