What made you smile today?

Yesterday , my husband wasn't very well at all , and so I put on my nurses hat ( metaphorically of course ! ) . This morning he felt much better , and bought me flowers with a note that said " thank you for looking after me , I love you all the world " . We`re both 71 years old , so this made me smile , a lot xx
Oh goodness Kate, that’s made me well up! You love him very well (and clearly vice versa!) :giggle: xxxx

What made me smile today was seeing a picture of my 5 month old great niece meeting Santa for the first time. I asked my niece whether she laughed or cried and she said 'she gave him a stern look'. Too cute

What originally also made me smile today was Maxx at the dog park doing perfect recall every time UNTIL his little head whipped around to see his friend Bear the chocolate lab being walked up on the footpath. The little sh!t took off up the stairs and onto the footpath and could easily have been hit by a car if he had run onto the road. OH did this amazing flying rugby tackle but missed him and ended up face planting in the mud. We can't risk it anymore, that's three times. No more dog park unless we can somehow proof this recall. Sigh.

I’m really sorry to hear that @Lab_adore , I can just imagine how gutting that is after all your hard work. It’s an emotional roller coaster isn’t it?! With us I’d be nervous if we were off-lead in an area that wasn’t enclosed, or at least away from traffic/roads so we’re probably at a similar stage of recall.
Your mention of proofing is good thinking though - do you think this is an option? My thought is always ‘eurgh, haven’t got enough we’ll behaved doggy friends’ But you might have a gang you can call on?

Today has hardly started but yesterday...
All the children remembered all the the lines of Oh Christmas tree... your branches green in summers glow and evergreen in winters snow...all sung loud and clear!

The dancing girls love their skirts and were twirling all around the hall.

After coffee and dog walks it’s back in to work to paint more scenery.

The only thing I’d say (and please tell me to shut up and mind my own business if I’m sticking my nose in) is how many times are you recalling him? Just because I NEVER recall Stanley unless I have to.

I have my actual recall which means Stanley come right this second and my come on Stanleyyyy which is like hurry up man (while he’s deciding what to pee on etc) but it’s just more guidance than me actually expecting him to fully listen and respond. Same as when he’s playing I’ll say “time to go” but that’s not his recall, there’s no big deal if he won’t come in that instance.

I just save his recall for if I really need it because then I feel as though he knows I’m being serious. We practice it sometimes, but I genuinely use it very rarely on his walks x
