We said goodnight to the most gentle, wonderful soul on Sunday. He was 15 years old and one day. Our hearts are quite simply broken. Casper was a free spirit, and we loved him for it, even though at times his idea of "free spirit" got him into trouble. Not with us though. I will never forget...

I like to give pups at that age venison skins or similar - something they get really get their jaw muscles working along with helping with erupting back molars. I tend to avoid coffee wood etc... as I get a bit worried about the desire to chew cracking a tooth, probably just my paranoia though...

I understand the importance of reduced activity post spay - but it is rather unusual for a vet to suggest medication to calm a dog down after a spay? Is there a behavioural component that necessitates medication for Trixie?

Casper used to get loads of ear infections back in the day.. it was hugely frustrating and we knew it was painful to clean them out although he was always such a stoic and gentle dog. The long-acting gel was like a miracle! Cleared up so quickly, and such a relief not to clean his ears twice a...
