Doggy brags

@Granca that’s just lovely. Sometimes I think our dogs can just sense how to behave. For example Hunter has never jumped up at my 88 year old aunt who we see daily as we share a back yard even though he’s always super happy to see her. My other aunt however who is much younger gets the full works when she comes. It’s like he knows she can stand it. :wasntme: Murphy was the same with my Nan. When he went through his jumping up excited phase he would never jump up at her he‘d go and sit calmly by her foot to be stroked. Meeting Tuppy was a very positive experience for the boy. Well done Tuppy:clap:

This post is very much ‘tongue in cheek’ but I share 😊. When Red returns from her early morning walk with F, I take her in the garden to get the mud off her, towel her as dry as possible and brush her coat. I have started having ‘conversations‘ with her about who she has seen on her walk (sometimes you see no one, another time several doggy friends).

This morning I said to her ‘did you see Archie this morning?’ - no tail wag. ‘Did you see Percy and Ozzy’ - her tail wagged furiously. ‘Did you see Bailey?’ - no tail wag. ‘Did you see Doris?’ - no tail wag. ‘Did you see Molly?’ - more furious tail wagging. I then asked F who she had seen and sure enough she had seen Percy, Ozzy and Molly but not Bailey, Doris or Archie ❤. I said to him, she is so clever and he said to her ‘Red can you tell us what the lottery numbers are for this week?’ - no response 🤣

I am so proud of Red. Since we moved here in July, we have had a constant flow of tradespeople in the house or garden. Sometimes, several people at the same time in different rooms. We have 3 more months of work so this will continue but I wanted to acknowledge Red’s exemplary behaviour. She loves to greet everyone which she does with lots of tail wagging. She then goes to her bed and stays there completely unfazed by lots of noise going on. Last week there was a huge amount of drilling going on but she wasn’t bothered. Equally lovely is how people are with her, she brings a lot of smiles to faces 😊

Meg totally suprised me at Dog School last night. The lady, L, who had Meg's arch enemy Ivy, now has a new puppy, Billy - another Border Collie. Meg's seen Billy a few times at dog school but never been near him. Billy has gone from being shy & scared to a full on, bouncy pup. Yesterday, I had to recall Meg across the ring, I was standing in front of Billy & L, about 10 ft in front of them. Meg came & sat nicely in front of me. Billy bounced and escaped L's hold and came straight up behind me to see Meg. I didn't panic (well I didn't see him until he appeared around my legs). There was a sharp intake of breath around the whole room. L was shouting "Billy! Billy!", Billy was bouncing around my ankles, Meg just sniffed him and I gathered her lead & walked calmy back to our place on the opposite side. Meg was totally unphased by everything, but gobbled up the chunk of pizza crust I rewarded her with.

Maybe a combination of them both being off lead and absolute zero stress from me. I love my girl.

Billy lives next door-but-4, ours & L's walks don't often coincide, but sometimes they do. They'll both be on lead in this case.
