Thinking of you and Homer

So... Homer has oesophagus dismotility/megaoesophagus. This may have been brought on by his adrenal gland tumour. How that is related is today’s research.

He has been given Cisapride which should help get the muscles of the oesophagus working better. There’s a chance it might improve especially as his is not as distended as some which made it a bit harder to spot on the scans.
He will need to be fed in an upright position and she suggested a Bailey chair.
along with this gastrointestinal disease has not been ruled out as it may be co-occurring.

That sounds like a much less scary diagnosis than any other! What a relief. Hopefully the raised eating will help. Did they say what food is best? Slippery and mushy vs hard and dry?

They said to stay on the Hypoallergenic for now. And try try out different consistencies To see what works best for him.

I’m sure there will be megaesophagus in dogs support groups that would be worth exploring to see if you can find out more. The Bailey chair is quite radical and a bit hard to get one’s brain around isn’t it?
