Weather

We only went out into the garden today, its very windy and too many trees.
Good call. We've just pottered in the garden, it's lovely and bright out - I was going a bit stir crazy stuck indoors. The dogs both went loopy in the wind, galavanting about, leaping over bins and things that were out of place, barking at next door's flapping gate :tail::dug:. They're sleeping it off now

@Jacqui-S did you take the plunge on Saturday?? I thought of you yesterday when I took the plunge into the sea, into a natural tidal pool, kinda like a crevasse with naturally occurring rocky walls and an opening that lets the waves come crashing in. It’s always freezing here (for me, 11 C is freezing!). But the air was so hot (in the 30s) that I just had to get in. Someone mentioned it was an unusually warm 15 C. I dunno. My neck was painfully frozen as were my hands and feet, but I did swim up and down a bit and it ended up being wonderfully refreshing. I would’ve stayed in longer, but I am terrified of sharks!

The heat continues....

We're getting solar panels put in next week (our hot water is already solar but this will cover everything else in the house), getting quotes to upgrade our aircon and also planning a pool installation. When you look at the rolling weather forcasts you can understand why!

Next Wednesday is the first day of school for the new school year. 40 degrees... Nice 🙄

Wow, Emily, that is seriously hot. We have some hot days coming from Saturday but only low 30's

Advice re the pool - get solar heating (or some sort of heating) if you can. Honestly we use our pool 8-9 months of the year because of it

We decided not to, for which I was relieved!
Air temp was pretty chilli, still some wind, a bit of mixed rain/sleet.

Rescheduled for a couple of weeks at Pittenweem Tidal Pool . I feel much happier about that.
As my Dad used to say, 'Discretion is the better part of valour.' ( Frequently quoted by our family when we didn't quite feel up to doing something scarey!)

To be honest, we've really acclimatised. Don't get me wrong, 40 degrees is still bloomin' hot (especially when the power goes out for 2hrs late arvo 🙄) but we've adjusted to the consistently warm weather. Tomorrow is 33 and we actually said "ooh, a bit cool tomorrow" 😆

Thanks for the tip re the pool too. We're getting a decent blanket that should help. We're not getting heating initially but putting the provisions in place to add a heat pump if we want. With the solar, aircon upgrade and pool, we've got to be a little conservative on the $$$ side of things.

Yes, it doesn’t get above 5 degrees here for the next 5 days, with a very brisk easterly keeping things fresh! I’m glad we got another log delivery today, stacking this lot kept me warm :D

That looks like a reassuring amount of fuel Harriet

We've had a long spell of hot, humid weather. You go and hang a load of washing then have to change your clothes. In that way I'm glad I am unemployed as commuting would be deathly

Rain coming next week and the garden will be happy

I remember going to visit my sister in Atlanta USA and the humidity was high. The moment you stepped outside the house you were wet all over! I went to a very upmarket house and sat on a chair, when I stood up, there was a wet patch :$
