What made you smile today?

This morning I took Homer to the field to play ball. There was a family, Dad with two boys playing football in the goals and a mum with their little dog. The boys were having such a great time diving to save to ball and covered in mud. When they finished playing Homer went up to the Dad and dropped his ball for him to throw so we played some more and chatted. On our way out of the field there's a huge very muddle puddle which Homer flopped down and walled in. "Ugh!" said the youngest. I said "have you seen yourself?" The mum and dad laughed and laughed.

Reuben and Nelly made me smile this morning . I had got up early to shove the monstrous turkey in the oven , then Paul said I should go back to bed for an hour or two . I opened the bedroom door and as one, they leapt onto the bed and snuggled down , one at one side, t`other one at t`other , and there they stayed, snoring away for an hour and a half xx

I was giving a tour of my German town and told my visitors to visit the cathedral while I sat outside on a bench with Carbon. We have a thing that I pat my lap, he puts his paws up and I give him a hug.

Today however, he put his paws on my shoulders instead of on my lap and then climbed on up and just sort of perched there. I'm of course used to this routine in a different setting (see 'what makes me happy' from last week about him sitting on my lap in the bathroom) but to the many tourists outside the cathedral, Carbon's antics spread a lot of post-Christmas cheer as we must have looked very, very silly.

And ok, made me laugh too. How DOES he get his whole body onto my lap? :giggl:

Went to have some bloods done at the GP today (nothing serious) My appointment was at 9.40 at which time Joy and I are usually well into our morning walk. I'd taken her out for 15 minutes to do the necessary, then dropped her back home, telling her I wouldn't be long (as you do!) I was seen promptly, the lady who took my blood was very pleasant and efficient and it was all done in next to no time.I thanked her and said 'Now I can take the dog out properly' She asked what sort of a dog I had and when I told her a Labrador she got that look in her eyes, you know the one we've all had at some stage, and I don't mean the 'I'm really proud of my dog' look. No. The other one. She has a 7 month old male yellow Lab and basically she just wanted to know when things were going to get easier. Once again, we've all been there. Some of us are still there. I gave her the best advice I could think of, which was to come and join us all here. She said she would when she got home this evening. She seemed lovely and said that although they were struggling they were very committed to their dog. What made me smile, apart from being able to recommend MLF unreservedly, was my instant recognition of that HELP! I'VE GOT A LABMONSTER! WHAT HAVE I DONE?! WHEN WILL IT END? sort of look. So please watch out for her, everyone and let's give her a good warm MLF welcome.

@Candy so pleased that you offered the best advice ever, come and join us !
I smiled this afternoon , on our lovely sunny but perishing cold walk . Reuben had been wired this morning , wired to create mayhem and I did have one of those fleeting " Oh good grief , what have I done " moments , I have them every so often but they don't last long ! So , off we went , to the forest , Nelly just doing her thing and the monster running free ! I don't bother with any form of training on the outward walk, unless I need to, but do lots of short exercises on the way homewards . I looked at him , all eager and quivering with excitement , focussed on me ( or maybe the treat ! ) and he just made me beam x
