Home again

I'm so sorry you and Joy are going through such an awful time Candy. I've just caught up. The last time I checked Joy was improving so I was very sorry to read about her feeling worse and her poor eye. . Scout had a swollen cheek a few months ago. He had an abscess caused by damage to his gum. The antibiotics he was given thankfully worked but he did have to be on a long course, 25 days, to get rid of the abscess completely. I still check his gum as I'm convinced it's going to come back. I do hope the new antibiotics the vet gives Joy kick in quickly and the scan goes well. Fingers crossed she will be back home very soon.

Poor you and poor Joy. Thinking of you both and keeping everything crossed for some good news and a speedy recovery. Xxx

Gosh just catching up...so sorry poor Joy is having such difficulties. Hope the vet can get it figured out soon and you get some answers and a proper course of treatment for her.

Just back from the Wakefield vet now. He was also lovely. He mentioned several possible causes for Joy's symptoms and said that although she looked very poorly, much of that was because she was sedated with the Methadone and although there was the possibility that this was 'something sinister' he felt that that would be the least likely diagnosis. He agreed that a CT scan was needed, will do it in the morning and ring me with the results and a way forward. He said that she was clearly normally a fit and healthy dog, youth is on her side and he feels optimistic that this will be something treatable. I've been awake since 4.30 and on tenterhooks all day. (Am normally a very calm person) Going to heat the remains of Saturday's cauliflower cheese (my faithful comfort food) in the microwave, pour a glass of wine even though it's only Monday, reply to texts from anxious friends and family, and see if I can find something mindless to watch on TV. That shouldn't be difficult! Again, thanks everyone for your support. It's a massive help. Never underestimate the power of a Labrador lover!

It sounds as if Joy is in the best of hands with the vet in Wakefield. I hope you manage to get some rest and relaxation this evening. A Monday wine should help a little xx
