Homer being sick

I've used the Buddy and Lola one before and have just recieved more through the door this morning.
We've got our RVC vet appointment for 15th Feb, which is grat as its in the Half Term holiday so no need to take time off work.

Homer has taken a bit of a turn for the worse. Last night he was a bit weak in his back legs and took a bit of a tumble coming up the step from outside through the back sliding door. This morning he his front lift leg was obviously hurting, he wasn’t putting any pressure on it. With weakness in his back legs he struggled a bit this morning. I managed to squeeze in a last appointment at the vet. A Saturday vet so not his normal vet. Vet said he was unwell and thought it possibly that he has aspiration pneumonia. He even suggested the unthinkable. I said I wanted to try antibiotics first and no way was I ready for the unthinkable. So after various injections we went home with antibiotics Loxicom anti inflammatory.
All not helped that Hubby left to go skiing for a week this morning.

Sorry Homer has taken a bit of a dive and you are having to cope alone. Are you able to get a routine (soon) appointment with his regular vet? I think I'd be wanting someone who knows Homer to appraise him. In the meantime, Lambies and hugs - fingers crossed the medications are helping.

for you, and I do agree with @edzbird, in your situation I would be wanting my dog to be seen by someone who knew us both well. I do hope he shows some improvement soon.

He still has an appointment with the specialist at RVC on the 15th. Just need to get some food to get through his system until then.

Is their any possibility of bringing the appointment forward as things have changed?

I’m going to ring RVC on Monday or see if I can get an emergency appointment on Sunday. If necessary I could take him to the emergency vet linked to our local practice but they wouldn’t know him just have overnight facilities.
Just trying to get at least some food to stay down.

He had injections this morning which has helped. He is walking around more easily and has done a few pees this evening. If I get timing right i should be able to get tablets down him. I‘m not sure a PEG would give him quality of life. It will be a tough call.
