Catching up… How is Harley getting on?
Harley is doing really well. Thanks for asking 😊. She does scare me at times as wants to be independent. We’ve moved from sleeping in the living room to the bedroom, but only on the mattress as the base would be too high.
we’ve blocked the sofa and chairs but today she decided to try and jump up on the sofa, but hurt herself. She’s stayed on the floor ever since. Apart from having a numb bum from sitting on the floor with her, recovery is going well. We are seeing the surgeon in 3 weeks and hopefully we can start doing short walks again as she’s getting bored of scatter, balls in a muffin tray etc plus it’s hard when we are restricting her food intake!

The surgeon phoned me this morning as he was in my vet practice. He read my update email to them yesterday and he is impressed at her recovery.
He is happy for her to start weight bearing and we can do 3 x 5 minute slow walks each day. In the garden we don’t need to use the harness unless she’s going up the other end (our garden is at least 150 foot long). I am using the harness for her short walks just to be on the safe side.
Today we done 2 x 3 minute walks in our cul de sac which she really enjoyed. When we got back she started to try and do a hoolie, but lifted her bad leg. Trying to stop her was really hard, but at least she didn’t weight bear whilst doing this!
We are due to see the surgeon in 4 weeks and hopefully we will be able to start building up the length of her walks as she is definitely getting back to being her cheeky self 💕

@Naya I was so happy to read Harley’s update she’s doing brilliantly. All the hard work and care you’ve put in is certainly paying off. Gorgeous photos and she’s definitely looking bright, happy and ready to go. It’s been a long road for you all but your nearly there.

Today I drove to a local park so Harley could have a short walk. We walked for about 3-4 mins then spent about half hour chilling watching the world go by. Met another dog owner who spotted Harley and put her dog on lead. She then came over to ask about Harleys leg - turns out that her dog had the same earlier this year. Harley loved being away from the house.
