I'm lying in bed listening to the crazy weather outside. It hadn't stopped pouring for nearly 3 days and today is the worst - up to 300mm and very strong winds.

It sounds like the UK/Europe and Australia are copying each other! We're not looking forward to the long drive to my sister's place.

I can't believe those temps @Lisa and @jazzmynn :cold::snowflake:

The wind is picking up here now, so I have been out in the garden making sure that anything that can be fasted down is so . We`ve been told to expect wind speeds of 80 mph , and not to go to the coast as many areas will be flooded due to spring tides right now . The fishermen are all putting extra ropes on their boats in Looe harbour . We`re also told to expect power cuts so I will fill a flask with boiling water tonight , cant do without my coffee in the morning xx
Yep, it's sure coming in on this side of Cornwall, too. Carbon and I had an amazing walk while the sun shone: so many people out today as we all know tomorrow is going to be an indoors day. I went to Morrison's in Newquay this evening and you'd think the apocalypse was coming: it was jammed to the rafters!

Good idea about the flask @kateincornwall .

One good thing about this house is the gas hob, which can always be lit without electric.
Took me ay least a year to get used to, having been brought up on electric hobs, which were in our first three houses too. But after learning about the instant heat and investing in a heat distributor for the gas hob, I'd probably always plump for one now.

We've been caught out on multiple occasions with early morning power cuts now, and at least this means we have hot water for a wash and a cup of tea.

Planning for tomorrow, no walks here until 6-7pm at best. We've got:

- Kongs( haven't put wet food in these since last summer so will be a novelty)
- kong wobbler with kibble
-' find it' around the house with liver treats
- kibble 'find it' under toys and objects
- practice walking backwards
- continued attempt at back legs on mat (not going well so far).
-continued attempt at chin rest - keeps turning into a nose touch. Grrrr.
- hide and seek around the house.

It was awful when I was driving home at 6pm. I was actually a bit nervous driving as the rain was battering on my windshield and my wipers couldn’t keep up! The wind didn’t seem to bad when I was driving but it was absolutely howling when I left work (we are up on high land so it’s ALWAYS windy at work.... nightmare!). Planning a chilled day tomorrow as I have worked super hard this week and my bosses say I deserve a good rest :sleepy:

Surprisingly we havent had a power cut, its blowing a gale our there , the gusts sound horrendous, like a train running through . I just took the dogs out for their last wee , and kept a close eye on Nelly x
Ooooh! Do be careful of little Nelly! We can't have her being blown away! Very wet and windy here on Gale Terrace, but nothing worse than we've had before so far. Joy is well accustomed to the heavy winds here by now and is snoring gently in her sitting room bed. We're snug and cosy as we could wish to be.:smiledog::happy:

Infact we're so snug and cosy that I've had to open the sitting room door to let some cooler air in! Turned the central heating off when I lit the stove at 5.30 ish. This stove is brilliant, really chucks some heat out. Hope everyone else is equally cosy. Hate to think what it must be like to be homeless and sleeping rough on a night like this. Really appreciate my snug safe home.

OH and neighbour had to tie down our new neighbours hut/shed tonight as it was moving about his garden and he hasn't moved in yet.
P.S. Don't tell my OH but I changed to the the 13"5 tog quilt today, I'm hoping he won't notice. ( It's usually the 4.5 tog summer quilt)

The wind is whistling around the house. I went out in the garden with Red first thing so she could go to the toilet - it’s raining and the gusting wind is a bit scary. Amber warning of wind until 9 o’clock this evening, then a yellow warning ⚠ until midnight. We will stay in today - going to be a long day with no walks but we will play some games
